Yea, these are a pain to get the printer lines out but they look great when done.

Great, another thread to take money from my wallet. o_O

I was looking for a model 4Runner to 3D print and ended up buying a set of 1/10 scale 5th gen body STL files. It was going to be a model only.
The first thing I discovered is exactly how large 1/10 scale is. I just got a black Friday deal on a larger 3D printer just so I can print the parts at full scale.

Then I started looking here. Next thing you know I bought a 1/10 scale Jeep to mount the body on. I know it's not as nice as you guys are using but at least it won't just sit on a shelf.

While I am waiting for the larger 3D printer I started making the smaller, more detailed parts on my resin printer. I printed out the headlights and tail lights and hot glued in some LEDs.

I am printing the clear headlight covers now but have had to change it up. I cracked three covers just trying to pry them off the bed.

I’ve been working behind the scenes. Haha. All I’m waiting on now is a scale RTT for the 4runner. I’ve got an 87 pickup that was supposed to be here today I’ll be starting to work on.D3DB36BE-E5DC-4CE4-AF6E-7CD2043D6583.jpgDF158C06-0ECC-4B82-9D31-3E91F1B8EFB9.jpg

Very nice, beat me to it.

I just got in the doner Jeep, it's been a blast chasing my dog around the back yard.

I am also printing the first test print on my larger 3D printer just now after a few days putting it together and getting it adjusted.

Well it turns out the jeep that is 1/10 scale isn't actually the 313mm wheelbase that I need for the 4Runner body that I'm printing. I was looking at a scx10 ii builder kit or similar. I was also watching lots of youtube videos and ended up ordering a Honcho. No, not the one you are thinking about but the knockoff that has great reviews but is $199 ready to run. It has good parts and the scx10 upgraded ones fit it if needed.

I did order a new set of shocks since they seem to be the worst part of this kit.

I got in the Honcho knockoff in today.

I don't know how the Jeep is considered 1/10 scale but it's not even close in size.

The good thing is most Axial parts will fit it if I need to upgrade anything.

I also picked up a couple Lipo batteries and a better charger to go with it. I then boxed it back up so my wife can give it to me for Christmas.

Yeah. It's a double edge sword. I really liked the Scout body when it was scratch free and pristine. Eventually I'll pick up another body and do something special for when it's sitting on the shelf.

Slowly getting there. This is taking a long time to print out.

I've seen some 3d bodies that have hundred hours in just sanding and prep for paint... Don't rush and they come out phenomenally

Yeah, I printed out the parts at .1mm layers to hopefully save on some sanding at a cost of time. The five largest parts took between 20 and 55 hours each to print. The rear bumper and hatch are printing now and just past the 24 hour mark. Its almost done though.

I've wanted one of those for a while now. It's basically their SCT buggy with a new body but looks like loads of fun.

The 1/24 deadbolt rock crawler I got is fun after I put a little weight in the tires. Now I want something fast, still debating on 2wd or 4wd though. I got a buddy that really into rc he's got all Traxxas stuff.

I don't know about their new stuff, but Associated is all SAE hardware. If you don't have a set of small SAE allen wrenches and nut drivers you'll need to get a set to work on it. This would be a deal breaker for many when you can get something similar from many other brands with metric hardware. This body can be found uncut and in clear lexan or painted just the same.
