Arrma is pretty much the only RC stuff I get into now. Change a few things and they are extremely strong.

Last time I looked at R/C vehicles, crawlers weren't around yet. Serious question: I don't yet get crawlers vs. speed bashers such as the Arrma Big Rock V3 3s or Rival mt10. Are crawlers just running a low gearing or what else is changed? Is the suspension setup notably different?

A comp crawler is a 4 link suspension, solid axles fully locked , servo mounted on the front axle, usually a heavily overdriven front axle, low gearing overall, lightweight, 4 wheel steering etc...

A Scale Trail Crawler typically has a c-channel chassis, most of above features but usually has a chassis mounted servo with a panhard bar. The biggest diff is it has a realistic looking body.

    Monster trucks they are not

I thought about it when I had to swap tires on these. Still need to order links/chassis/driveshafts.

Been screwing around with my wife's old nitro car. Have the bug for a new nitro...if you were going to buy a nitro basher right now, what would it be?

buy a Tekno nt48 2.0 if you want a race style kit. Losi also had a nitro truggy that you can get rtr in the 8ight-t. I don’t have any nitro’s but love my Tekno chassis. There isn’t a demand for bashers that are nitro anymore.

Been thinking about going really old school and getting either a savage, tmaxx 3.3, or revo 3.3. I do like the tekno though! Wish there was more of a race scene here!

Anyone have or seen one of those Traxxas XRT 8S trucks? I've been casually looking at those since they came on, online. Seems like fun. My main basher is a Maxx V1 (with Widemaxx kit and a few other upgrades.) I like it, but that was the only other vehicle I would maybe consider selling it to try.

I'm guessing about 6 years ago, I got two - for me and my boy to play with. We got one with a 2.5 engine and one that was electric (I think they were both Traxxas Rustlers). I thought for sure that we'd enjoy the Nitro engine much more, but as it turns out, we had a lot more fun with the electric one. Those motors have come a long way over the years for sure.

Anyway, they ended up just sitting in the garage for quite a while (at least a couple of years) without being touched...so I put them out at a neighborhood yard sale about two years ago and they went pretty quick.

I think my main complaint with the nitro powered one was that there was no pull-start. That was the intention with the nitro-powered engine...no setup needed...no charging of batteries, just go out and start it up. But you had to charge the electric starter device. I understand that even with a pull start (I used to run these things way back in the day) you need a glow plug thing that runs off of a 9v battery...but that's a lot easier than having to make sure you charged your starter pack or bring your proprietary connector with you, etc.

I do think that if we had a bit more land or had access to some fun places, we'd probably still at least have a set of them and run them from time to time.

I have a Revo 3.3. It's fun when it runs - tuning nitro can be a pain, and troubleshooting nitro can be tedious.

I removed the EZ-start system from my Revo 3.3 and converted to pull start.

Yeah I've seen those kits. I will definitely look into that in the future if I get back into it.
