Finally got it going today! Turns out the ez start motor was cooked. It would turn the motor over, but not fast enough to start. It fired up almost immediately after I put the new ez start motor on. Still need to tune the carb, but ran out of time before school pickup. The video was just trying to get it warmed up.

I think I need to add this to the collection. After driving hundreds of bolts into untapped holes with a 2mm allen wrench for that kit, my fingertips have been messed up.

I was skeptical to spend the money on it, once you do it you will never go back. Makes building a kit like an hour or two shorter.

Yeah, after looking at it, it's hard to justify $120 for another battery and charger I'll have no other use for. Plus I don't know how well I'd get along with no trigger and just a gyro. I'm a black and yellow guy, but I wonder how the Milwaukee m12 screwdriver would fare? It's a bit cheaper and there's a bunch of m12 stuff I could always get later.

Now ain't this some shit. One run. Less than 1/4 of a run. New truck, new tires. Battery doesn't even have it's first discharge yet.

Fortunately I brought both the 3.8 and the 4.19s camping. I thought the 3.8s would suck at ground clearance (correct) but would make up for it by the stickier compound (incorrect) and, being more proportional to the model, would photograph better. (lol couldn't be more wrong.)

    PXL_20230428_232006839.jpg

    PXL_20230429_000525967.jpg

Turns out, the 3.8 tire just brings focus to the exaggerated proportions of the model. It's a weird little thing, vertically squashed from roof to top of bumper, then stretched from bumper to axle.

It was no surprise that the 4.19 falkens easily cleared the rock garden that would hang the 3.8 rc4wd duratracs. What really surprised was the loose gravel steep slope. The 4.19s walked up easily, while the 3.8s wanted to sit there and rooster tail the dirt.

Yeah, this is going to be a fun toy.

Looking good! Yeah I think 3.8 are just a tad too small and the rig a tad too heavy for the tires.
Edited. Not sure how my text landed inside quote.

Did the battery tray conversion and re-geared my Maxx. Great product. They also make it for the Xmaxx. I wish I had known about it sooner. 20230429_085716.jpg

Was the stock tray bad on that thing? I'm not too familiar. Looks sweet though.

Looks like a double traditional battery instead of, what, a shorty pack maybe? That thing must go for days. How's the weight distribution?

    Ya I am curious.

This mod is popular on the Maxx and Xmaxx (doubles) because the stock battery door makes it very tough to use any batteries aside from Traxxas.

I don't have the mod on my Xmaxx but then it is a 6s. I've thought about converting it but meh. It's pretty quick.

The two stock trays could not fit larger capacity batteries, because the length was very limited. I wanted to fit larger batteries in and they made the kit for it.

Stock trays were two tray buckets in the same position and you were limited in how big the batteries could be. These CF trays are larger with no walls so you can put much larger batteries in. Since it's such a heavy rig to begin with, the slightly heavier batteries didn't really impact how it carries the weight.

Oh cool. Similar problem then. That is awesome that they made one for that too then.
