I got the text that it showed up and was already at our campsite hooking up the trailer. Wife calls me a couple minutes later and offered to stop and grab it on the way. I laughed and told her the box was too big for her Volvo.

I still need to finish up the sewing, but it's starting to look like something.

Nice, the honcho is a beast. I carry tools in its toolbox on mine when I'm out on the trail. I'm not a fan of the stock battery trays though - they don't hold batteries that securely (already had one eject) so I'll probably modify the tray or just add velcro to the trays and battery.

I'm happy with the frame, aside from a few minor fitment tweaks. Just need to tighten up the canvas, adjust a few things, and make some material for the "rolled up" rear hatch.

And I guess learn to sew better, or something.

Maybe I should have…it looks pretty sweet at $299.

the problem is they consider it a fail, and will discontinue it because it didn’t sell at the inflated price they were asking. I should try and find a clear body set for it asap. Hmm

Fail or not, it is really well detailed and sorted. No point in getting a clear body IMO. The inner fenders are made for this body so you would have to ditch/modify them for a different body.

Does it really matter if it didn’t sell and is being discontinued?

No it doesn’t really matter, axial should go away from the 2 speed transmission altogether. I appreciate the detailed body though, and something that isn’t a jeep or 21 bronco toadd to the lineup.

Yes, but a 2 speed isn’t needed in a crawler. They should split the idea, put the 2 speed in the “trail” trucks, and put a dig in the crawler based trucks. Idk, these companies like axial and traxxas need to release something fresh soon. Even element is getting stale with the same platform and body on new rtr’s.

Anybody have any recommendations for an aftermarket brushed esc for small stuff like an scx24? My gladiator started spazzing out when I turned it on today, so I'm guessing that's the culprit. Surprisingly, this is not a high performance rig and I intend to keep it more scale than performance oriented, so I want to stick to my current brushed motor if possible. I know the most popular option is furitek, but I'm not trying to spend $50 for a performance esc when a generic one would do just fine. I suppose I could get a furitek and use it temporarily until I inevitably get another scx24 and then just swap the electronics when the time comes.

Do you need the esc/rx combo or just the esc?
    If esc only,
Hobbywing quiccrun 1625 is pretty good, small footprint, but unfortunately does not have a forward/reverse setting. Your stuck with a F/B/R setting. Should be fine for a scale application though.
Amain might have something if you need the combo. Depends on your tx.
There is this combo that I use in the 1/24 FCX Power wagon that covers all the bases, when it comes back in stock. Has great low speed modulation and a tiny footprint.

Can anyone give me the run down on a traxxas Xmaxx 8s? I got hurt and cant walk for a while, looking for something to mess around with in my yard/on my street. Are they junk? Should I buy another brand? Any input is appreciated.

They're big and absolutely rip. If you cannot get out of its way, you might be in trouble. An alternative might be one of the Ultimate Desert Racers or an Arrma model--Kraton, Talion, or something faster :)

I didn't think about using one meant for larger rigs, but honestly any 1/16 or 1/10 esc is about the same size as the stock scx24 esc/rx combo. While I'd prefer to have the fwd/rev option, I can probably just get a Hobby Wing 1060. It's not much bigger and has the fwd/rev option. I figured I can just use this an opportunity to get an rx that goes with my new radio, further condensing the transmitter collection. Thanks for the suggestion, I would never have thought about that, but it makes a lot of sense now.

I was gonna recommend the 1060, but wasn't sure if it would fit. Scamazon has them for $21 right now.
