Yeah, definitely going with that one. While the gladiator isn't a performance crawler, it is still a crawler, so having the brake mode isn't really an option.

I wish more crawler manufacturers would take note of this. The Kyosho Mini Z MX-01 crawlers all come with a F/B/R setting. The brake is useless as the models have no coasting ability anyway. Combine that with the slight deadband in the trigger and it's slightly more than annoying. The models are pretty damn cool though. If I knew for a fact the Flysky Nobel tx came with the ability to drop the brake on the Mini Z esc, I'd spring for it today. It would also be nice to bind them all to the same tx.

That's pretty disappointing, I didn't know they had a brake function. I've always loved the look of their 1st gen 4 runners, but they're so expensive for what they are, I've kind of pushed it towards the bottom of my list. My TRX4-m has a brake option, but luckily they let you reprogram that on the esc. You can't do that with the mini z?

There is no way to program the brake setting on the stock Mini Z tx as far as I know.

For anyone running the Mini Z's, these are the best AAA battery I have used so far. Li-ion rechargeable, discharge at 1.5 volt thru the duration of the charge no drop, usually get an hour out of the 4x4's and about 30-45min in the buggy. Even at full tilt discharge load they still read at 1.5 volt. Alkalines tend to drop off after a few minutes of use and read around 1.2-1.3v under load. Nimh just plain suck under a load.
They weigh in about 15 grams lighter too (4 batteries), which is nice for the buggy. (7.8 grams each) (alkaline around 12 grams each)

and they come with this USB squid. Each battery has it's own nifty red led that shows charge, and done when it's off. As a bonus, you can charge 1-4 batteries as needed.

My MX-01 Jimny has been hacked to bits lol. I kind of want another stock one though, the newer lime Jeep looks pretty capable.

I have the light green Defender, and it's modded about as far as it can go, might have an oil filled shock solution if Injora comes thru (slight modification required, we'll see if it works)
I have the red Hilux supposedly showing up today, looking forward to to that one.

I ran 4x 14500 that I rewired to basically 2s power in a Sumo once. Thing had some serious torque.

Waiting on Kyosho bumpers to come in. Took the body lift off to lower cg when I did servo the esc/rx. Also dropped down to 0.7 wheels from the bigger 1.0’s.

I also took advantage of the sale. It's a nice truck, I'll use it as a trail cruiser and activate the 2 speed.

Finished the rbx10 today. Pretty happy with how it performs, I just need to get a real battery in there so it doesn't run out of "oomph" too fast. While I like the speed it's at now with the HW fusion se 1800kv, it's getting REALLY hot. I guess I should plan on swapping out to a brushless setup meant to go fast, but the se will be useful for other crawlers.

Installed some Zolikar Mini Z shocks on the T4R Hilux and they are definitely worth the $16 from Prime.
They don't hold oil but have a plastic liner/cap on the piston head which gives it some friction. I also filled them with then bled them out by hand cycling, wiping off the excess as it came out and that really helped with the bounce. Definite improvement over the stock shocks.
The T4R is a way better wheeler than the Defender simply because the body weighs about 50 grams less and isn't flop heavy on top.
Looking for some stock wheel spacers now for the Defender. Also ordering a 2nd set of the Zolikars to see if that helps with all the body roll it has

Finally got around to trying the boiling water trick for removing glued tires and it only worked for about half of the glued surfaces. I ended up having to use a heat gun for the rest, but the glue wouldn't let go until I was nearly making the plastic wheels bubble and pop. Luckily that only happened on the inside surface, so I don't really care, but the tires are reglued and they're holding up perfectly to that little brushless 3s fury haha. No more mega balloons, so I can put off getting new wheels and tires for a while.

Also made some progress on my 4500 class ultra 4 deadbolt build. Designed and printed a spare tire mount, 3 fan radiator, and a chassis mount servo steering setup. The steering is a little tight, but it works a lot better than my old hack job of just relocating the servo. With the custom arms, the bump steer is minimized and I don't run into the issue of the links inverting when trying to steer left. I think I'll have to either reprint with bigger ball joint sockets, or get a stronger servo. Overall, I'm loving the look, just need to get a working light bar in there. I currently have the mofo buzzsaw in there, so its ultra 4 worthy.
