Really? I have found the opposite to be true. With FDM I find it's a lot more trouble to rip off supports and file everything, clean up hairs, and generally smooth stuff out. With the resin, most of the supports pop off with almost no effort, I just throw it in the alcohol tub, shake, rinse, and let dry/harden in the sun. I imagine if you get the FDM dialed in really nice most of the problems go away and you can just pop the supports off and go, but I've never been able to get my FDM calibrated that nicely.

Maybe its the type of resin we are using.

Ours are a pain to cure and we have a curing/washing station with a circulating table. Usually turns into an all day affair. They do come out a lot nicer though.

I know there are a lot of Traxxas haters here, but I have always enjoyed their stuff and the availability of parts where I live...needless to say we added a fleet of TRX4m's to the collection! Got one for each of my boys. I have been impressed with them straight out of the box...so much so, that I will probably round out the collection by adding an orange and white one for my wife and I to drive with the kids!

the Mini z slipper clutch does not like slightly larger sticky tires at all. It would balk at the simplest obstacles.
I had the thing completely apart, transmission in pieces, stretched the spring, no help, added a shim behind the spur gear, no help. Ended up reversing the steel slipper plates, and that did the trick. They are slightly concave/convex, whatever, and reversing them put the pressure on the outer edge. Now it spins tires. Should start snapping u-joints next.

My Suzuki would slip on a lego brick when I first got it. Ended up gluing the slipper clutch together in the first 20 minutes lol.

I think these are what ill be using on my Mini-Z next.

Very nice . I have my ultima and turbo optima to build still, i want to get them on the shelf next to my turbo scorpion. I can’t figure out what power systems to go with without getting crazy. I put a castle system on 3s in the scorpion and its crazy fast and fun..and destructive lol. A nice 2s system would probably be enough.

lol, I have a basic 27T brushed with a Quicrun 1060 and a Tazer brushless system (no sensor) to choose from. Prolly start with the brushed first to see what it does. I have a few pinions to play with. if it's not exciting enough, I'll put the Brushless in. I keep telling myself to go with 2s to keep the damage minimal.:rofl:

Progress so far. A yard of slop in the belt but the tensioner takes it all out with room to spare and the top plate hasn't been installed yet.

My only complaint is that the sprue holding the bumper on left a mark dead center on the top. They could have attached it from the bottom, just sayin.

May have to replace the steering servo, it's a Hitec 645Mg that has been in the parts box for a decade, and seems to have a case of the jitters now and then, not sure what's up with that. it works fine otherwise. I do have some old Airtronics servos that can be used but they have half the torque rating, with a touch more speed. If they work (I have a matched pair), I'll just go with one and have a spare. 15 grams lighter too, so they may be the ticket.

and the only mistake I made so far was with the belt cover last night when i was too tired to be messing with it. The screw for one of the steering arms was hitting it, and after dismantling better than half of my work i discovered there was actually a lip in the front gear box that it's supposed to slide under, not sit on top. Now the screw clears by a scant hair, but it works fine.

The shocks went together well, and the bleed was super easy. No squishy noises and they are butter smooth. Kyosho even included a nice wrench and a plastic holder/guide to tighten them down and leave them free of marks. Nice touch.
Might have it running tonight, but the real batteries won't be here until tomorrow afternoon. I have a nimh pack that will be fine in the meantime.
