They also have a notice about a huge overhaul they are currently undergoing. Possible 3-4 day delay in shipping. Delays in customer service and inquiries too
Patience they are as legit as they come.

    I use this method.

Or you can take it to Batteries Plus and even Home Depot.
The salt water method that is so popular is bullshit.

    A video demonstration.

I didn't realize Home Depot would take it. I just did the salt water method to one 2 weeks ago. It's still sitting in the water lol.

yeah, the salt water corrodes the contacts and causes a false reading on the voltmeter, the cells still retain voltage. Best way is to drain it with a small light and short it out when it gets to the point the light no longer glows. It'll still puff up even at very low voltage after shorting the wires, so do it outside.:p

Had to trim the fenders quite a bit to drive flat, and will need to trim them quite a bit more. Also cut the front bumper, squeezed in the front skid plate, lost the exhaust (sorry EPA).

Just a little more kutting to do front and rear when its stuffed and it should all clear.

Have you swapped in the overdrive gears yet? They make a difference but just be careful because some of the screws were so tight that I ended up striping the heads. I thought it was my tools so after striping one I switched to a different one and still stripped the head on another one. I ended up swapping out the steering from the plastic to the Bowhouse N2R aluminum steering rack and bell cranks which made a difference. I added their aluminum servo tray as well because I stripped one of the bolts while changing out the steering.

sorry to disappoint. We dont do that here.

Initially I didn't think I'd like them with how big they are, but now that they are on there and somewhat cleared, I am really happy with the way it looks.

I haven't swapped gears yet. This is my first RC car, which I have had about a year and only a few hours playing with it. I have been stalking this thread for a few years trying to take in relevant information, but I don't really have any idea about what I can do, or a plan or goals for this thing and appreciate suggestions like this. Figure I will just approach this like my real truck, armor and tires first, then suspension and drive train as I break them :notsure:

To be honest drive it until you break something then buy better parts. The little things add up quickly. Don't forget they make lights for it too. I haven't gotten them yet. This guy is fun too.

    I drive a Miata.

I'm a little confused by the suggestion of OD gears. AE defines overdrive as front axle spinning faster than rear. That's what were talking about, right?

Knightrunner comes out of the box with 5.7% fronts overdriving rear, with included gears to swap to either a 11.8% or back down to 1:1 drive.

I've left mine stock since I do mostly dirt/trail with occasional climbing. Oh, and also a bit of shelf queening. :anonymous: I have also found that even at scale, tires are everything. Some couldn't find traction on flat sandpaper, others can climb a snot covered wall.

Does the 11.8 set make that huge of a difference? I could be wrong, but I thought the rule of thumb was if the truck is flipping over backwards (or digging too much in the rear), that's when its time to step up the center diff ratio.

Just curious, it's my first (4x4) RC also.

Yes I was referring to the fronts spinning faster. The gearbox is where youswap in the overdrive gears that came with it.
    Screenshot_20230803_075317_Adobe Acrobat.jpg

These make the front wheels spins a little faster which helps when ascending. You don't want the rear faster than the front for crawling because like you said it will push you up the hill and make you flip. I haven't been doing this for a long time so I'm sure there are some more seasoned guys out there that can chime in but I'm just speaking from my experience. How you build it will depend on what you want to do. Mine is more of a trial truck like you so I haven't done anything crazy. My capra on the other hand is a crawler and it has lots of brass down low for a lower center of gravity. I did change the steering and the aluminum parts did make a difference in steering slop. Did I have to do it? No I didn't the bug bit me and I had to upgrade it. We all know how that goes and it's easier and cheaper to upgrade the little one than it is the big one. Hahaha! I agree with you on tires too they have are a good upgrade because there are so many out there. I went with Patagonia Milestar's in 1.9 and so far they have been great for me. I was going to do Duratrac's since it's a mini me build but I didn't like the side wall it looked flat. I would suggest doing brass wheel rings in the tires for more weight down low which will also help with grip. The most important thing is drive it and have fun with it. You will figure out what you like and don't like and what you have to upgrade as you go.

I started out with the RC4WD Duratracs 1.9x3.8 because they were close to the stock tire diameter. They were awful on even mild stuff.

I'm currently running the Vanquish Falken RT (4.19") and I'm much happier with them.
