I like that we all have the same wheels on our FCXs!

Are you going to give the Injora stuff a try? I think I went with treal because I wasn't sure of the quality of FMS ones (haven't heard the greatest thing about the metal trans gears either).

Also I really need to get another yellow hood. I just don't want to pay $10 shipping on a $5 part from FMS.

Yup, they're great wheels! Weigh damn near as much as the stock FCX24.

I ordered the Injora parts last night, already have a tracking number. In my experience (I've ordered a few things directly from them before) it takes a week or two for things to arrive from China. The Injora motor in my TRX4M is pretty solid. I did buy the FMS metal trans gears to go with the FMS high speed motor, hoping they work together.

Surprised you can't find a hood on Etsy or Thingverse or the likes. Have you checked FairRC?

The FMS metal gears are ok, they definitely need a bit of filing and some "run in" time to get them smooth. They will bind up once the case is tightened. I had them in the Ford, and they were too heavy for jumping and flipping the truck. But they were right at home in the Power Wagon.
I can't remember what diff gears I used, I don't think they were Treal, and they needed shimming to mesh right.

That high speed motor is fast, tends to make the truck cut out if the power draw is too high.
I think there is a different battery that can be used that can handle the draw. Run times are drastically reduced.
That was one mod I wasn't sure if it was worth it, but they are still in place.

I did not like my FMS diff gears. Probably because I had to get open diffs and do my best to "lock" them. Should have just paid for the Treal ones, but I was already annoyed about spending more on gears to begin with.

The FMS metal pinions are very cheap if you have the same problem I did. Right now im running these with the plastic diff.

Honestly the wheels went together very easy. I was worried at first but everything was tapped properly and all the bolts threaded in without issue - keeping the beads seated during tightening takes a little patience but that was about it. They are an excellent looking scale wheel.

FairRC also has high shipping rates. 3D printing wouldn't really work since the color and finish wouldn't match. I'll just suck it up and buy one at some point.

I really like those wheels as well! I have a similar set on my 1/10:

This chassis used to be a Suzuki Jimmy but I wanted to go with a Toyota body so I stretched the wheelbase:

These remind me of some boom racing profiles.

Most recently I have been building an RC speedy r2vfd buggy and a DDG buggy.

The WERC rock crawling has really peaked my interest. I just need to figure out interiors today for them both and I should be all set to apply to drive in the event coming up in June.

Well Friday was a ton of fun, got the new chassis sliding and it feels great. I also put these tiny wheels on the car and everyone loved the look:

Going to run this Previa body on it:

    upload_2024-5-19_21-38-53.png

Then I went to another hobby shop today and splurged on a new radio.

I already have the NB4 so looking forward to upgrading to the +!

I agree! Looks better than I thought it would. I'm a Toyota guy though, so I'll be changing it out for something else old school in the future.

Swapped out chassis from a mofo ugly-af to a skp warthog.

It’s going to need wider axles and I’m still playing with wheels and tires. So far it’s pretty cool and the print was decent quality, only issue was battery tray not playing nice with the micro komodo setup.

That is incredible, retracting landing gear too.
I used to fly heli's, still have a few collecting dust but are ready to go if I ever get the nerve up again.
Biggest I have is a 500 class, which is a dwarf compared to that thing. I always flew it in the very early morning hours to avoid people and dogs, and usually went up to the mountains to fly over a ravine or drop off. Gets the bird out of the prop wash and still able to be at eye level.
I would have been very nervous being that close to people, one blade strike or loose bolt, and the carnage would be devastating.

That’s what I noticed too , the landing gear and it sounds like their Germans from what I could tell. What would be a good beginner helicopter? I have absolutely no idea where to look or even get started . But flying a helicopter around here would be pretty fun.

Almost all of the weed eater sized engines are Germans. The do such a great job at building and they fly very similarly to the real thing as well. The videos are an absolute rabbit hole :)
