Same here. I find that the easily portable is ruling in my favor. Still might go bigger one day, but for now… these are working for me.

So easy to throw into a motorcycle pannier or trunk of your car and just have something to tool around with. And you need a lot less space to have fun.

Exactly, can crawl on the couch and then bring it outside and a small rock pile is a huge set of obstacles

Also for those of us with small houses and garages, storing a bunch of 1/10 rigs isn't an option (and isn't in budget, lol)

I don't have any good areas to run my 1/10 crawler (they're banned in all state parks locally) so I'd have to drive/ride hours to actually use it. It gets used maybe once a year.

The small stuff I can play with in my back yard or on smaller courses and no one says anything.

Yup. The lil Rover might make it into the work truck here soon. I have told my super a time or too, that I was going to pull the passenger seat out and mount my ARB fridge there. I’m sure he’d shit himself if he sees it set up for a storage/charging area for the RC stuff.

I need to get out of this thread...... I haven't been into RC for awhile.... although I want an SCX10 really bad, it's the one I never bought as a kid.
    I had:
Traxxas Slash 4x4 (STRC chassis, Mamba 3800kv, Savox servo, honestly not much stock on it)
Traxxas Rustler VXL x2 (One street/speed, one bash)
    Traxxas Bandit
    Traxxas Stampede
    Losi mini 8
    Losi mini and micro T's
    Axial Exo Terra

    Probably more I'm forgetting

    :rofl:Hell, I’m just starting out.

I think about the old school Grasshopper, too. That was a first for me, every bit of 40+ years ago.

they have one at the local store.

I break out the 1/24 and/or 1/18 stuff almost every day inside and use the mess my 2 year old has left strewn across the floor as crawling obstacles

See…. That’s what I’m talking about. I’ve been driving over anything possible in the house.
Even had the Wife say, if I step on it and break it, don’t yell at me.
My reply was… You break it, you buy it. Haha

I've had some full speed crashes and flips into curbs with the Mojave and it still hasn't broken anything yet, other than the body getting a few holes in it from all the shenanigans.

Right right. I’m referring to the little 1/18th scale TRX4M. That damn Mojave is way to fast for the in the house fun. Although I did slam in the curbing when coming back into the driveway. It rolled a couple time and landed rubber side down, and Straight back into the throttle.

Been going back and forth on a crawler for about a month but was never really sure I'd use it a lot. After watching a few videos picked up a Mojave Grom instead. This thing is an absolute blast. Might still look at a small scale crawler for around the fire pit at the lake. Was looking at the WPL C24. For as much as I'd use it the price is right. And if I like it I can always get something better.

Save up the few extra $$ and get something a class higher, I love the look of the WPL but if you need parts or want to really get performance out of it the WPL is going to be severely limited

Only reason I was considering it was the price point and the fact it may be used very little. At least with my other trucks I have a park across the street with a skate park so I can step out of my garage and use them. With a crawler I'm driving somewhere to use it. I figured for around $80 I could leave it at the lake and use it around the fire pit.

While the WPLs are good at getting you hooked, they're best as models or trail rigs. The tires don't really grip all that well and the modularity in the throttle and steering are marginally better than toy grade. While I've had my fun with them, the new fcx-24s are impossible to beat for price/quality ratio. Scx24s and trx4ms are great too, but they cost a little more. If you do decide to get the WPL, there are some parts out there for them.

Just about bought an SCX24 but bought the Grom instead. I know the quality on the WPL isn't great but it was just going to be used to get my feet wet in the crawler game. But the Axials aren't much more for better quality. Going to have fun with the Grom for now and still want to get my Savage and T-Maxx going again. A small scale crawler might get bumped to the winter project list

I love the old ESP Clodbuster builds! :mudding:I think ESP was doing a handful of kits through their facebook page not that long ago.

Which blue paint is that on the front?

edit: and what color/brand of paint did you back it with?

Agreed, I'd wait a few months and grab an FCX24 at $119 or SCX24 Deadbolt which is sometimes on sale for $99. Better chance of enjoying it and having issue-free crawling time than the WPL C24 at $65.
