I've got my own scale modeling side business for plastic scale models, but my father got me into R/C stuff since I was 10, and got heavy into 10th scale off road racing.

Fast forward to 40 some odd years later and having a Taco set up for crawling, and my brother being into R/C crawlers I found this gem online, and snagged it.

It's pretty freaking amazing in person as nearly every single component is aluminum/metal of some sort sans the cab over.

It weighs in at a heafty 22lbs.......I just yesterday got the XT-60 to Deans adapter I needed as rhe LHS was out of female XT-60 plugs to solder up a new plug on the battery side.

Headlights, flashers, turn signals, reverse lights, rear facing lights and two super bright sets of off road lights all work.
Sounds works awesome as well, Horn scared the CRAP out of the cats! lol

It's also got lockable/unlockable differentials for all four axles.
Full interior w/speaker and opening doors as well.
I'll see if I can take some better pics soon, hopefully of it in action! Low gear locked up seems quite nice.
8 locked up and driving, 4 turning. It's quite the rig in person!

Anyone know where to score a hard side top carry transport case for large and heavy RC trucks/cars?

I'm thinking get a 30 dollar plano trunk and line it with pick-out or cut-your-own foam. It'll be a two handed carry, but at least its still a lid-up carry.

I was thinking similar, but it seems all the ones I've looked at are not long enough or WAY too long.

I've also been contemplating just getting some 3/8" hardwood and cutting/assembling my own. I also have some aluminum strip I could add as well as some aluminum reenforced corners. Not sure it would be worth the effort though.

Going to stop by Harbor freight today and see what they have before doing anything.

Anyone check out the new FMS FCX10 LC80?

    upload_2024-10-20_16-50-49.png

2 speed transmission for $300 on pre-order. Pre-order comes with interior, lights and bumper as well as a Black Friday "gift" as well. I'm a sucker for LC80s so I had to pre-order again.

It doesn't have the FWD/RWD/Dig switching or locking/unlocking diffs or portal axles of the K5 Blazer, but I prefer a simpler chassis layout anyways, so I'm fine without all that stuff. At $350 (normal price of LC80 without pre-order) it might be a harder sell, though.

It will go well with my FCX18 LC80 (though the FCX18 has a hard body and this is a lexan body, probably better for crawling though).

Did see it, but not fully convinced until the reviews are out. The body looks... somewhat slightly off? I can't put my finger on where/what/why, it just does.

    Still a good value proposition.

It's not as good as my old hardbody LandCruiser was but the 1/10 hardbody Land Cruiser was crazy top heavy and not very capable at all.

    upload_2024-10-20_17-33-57.png

I think the new FCX10 body has a cab that's a little too stubby. The 3rd window is too small compared to the real thing.

Regardless, it's good to see FMS throwing so many new options into the mix.

Well I don't use cement as I like new challenges. I did find one from a couple months ago. I'll get a picture of version 10 or whatever it is now tomorrow.

Solid setup there. Do you find the rocks move at all?

Yup, sometimes they do. One of the disadvantages of no cement. When a rock does moves it adds to the challenge!

Here's the pit of doom for tomorrow.

Good stuff, I'm hoping to carve out a section like that in my yard once things settle down here a bit

The corner is not a wife favorite but she's been understanding so far. :argue:

Hear that. My wife doesn't "love" my hobbies but they're a lot better than other, much more detrimental to health and safety things that can be done with time/money haha.
