Oh man, going +50mph with the Grom is FUN

Got myself a 3S battery and charger

    20241106_173111.jpg

Only bummer is I didn't realize it doesn't discharge/store so my mistake

I bought into the factory battery style since I do not intend to run any more RC vehicles and/or battery types

Edit: And after reading more about these SMART batteries, apparently they discharge by default after 72 hours so that's pretty cool

I had a lipo issue once. I'm on Spektrum batteries and chargers now. No more thinking involved for this old guy.

This was my thought process as well.

I've had different ESCs I'd terminate myself in order to swap batteries with, and a high end charger for all different types.

Now I just want to stick with one battery and one platform.

Nice thing is, I'm considering an Axial SC24 and saw that they too use a Spektrum battery. Not to mention they offer the JST PH 2.0 adapter to IC3 so I can use the same charger.

    No kidding!

The only real display of speed is within the first few seconds of the video. I didn't get any real "full throttle" action on cam after reviewing the video.

It's because there's a center divider reflector there in the video, and that's what I hit the other day causing it to flip and tumble  so I was being careful not to flip it at +50mph.

Bold to assume I didn't buy any when I got my RC

(You don't want me supervising your RCs, your tires will RIP:bananadead:)

I use a couple 1300mah, but if I ever get to a competition, I'm going to get the the 600mah or maybe the 450. I get 45 minutes to an hour or so on my batteries depending on where I am.

    On your SCX24?

It's crazy how popular they are , you can't assume anyone's running a stock rig at all.

I saw they've got a stupid low price of 79.99 for the Bronco's and I'm half tempted to buy one :spending:

Nah, it was more pointed at my satisfaction of Spektrum stuff. I have a couple 1/10 Redcats.

    Got it!

Yeah this 3S lasted quite a long time. Just ran it some more and finally killed it (which included the running back and forth I did earlier).

    It's way too fun.

    That looks good!

You remember those micro drift RC's they used to sell at Radio Shack?

I had one of those and used the hell out of it in the kitchen.

My Grom is my first Lipo vehicle. Good thing to know about the smart batteries. I'm guilty of not taking very good care of my rc batteries so that's one less thing to worry about, lol.

I never had cool toys like that when I was a kid. My first RC was purchased at 37 years old because you guys on this thread all looked like you're having so much fun.

Only wished I had bought a crawler too. Would've been fun taking it camping this weekend

I won't lie, it rubbed me wrong a little spending $70+ for what was listed as a "smart charger" and low capacity 3S.

My last charger had charging, storing, discharging, and more for any battery type. Great way to get the most out of your batteries especially when you compete.

Anyway, seems the battery is smart enough to help with maintenance and I don't have to buy another charger :D

So, question for those with either the Arma or any other fast RCs

Is the grease type used in metal diffs that much different than say, Redline CV2?

I ask because one thing I never did was check the diffs and a few online videos state they come with very little grease

I know RC stuff won't cost much at all, but I'd have to order it and wait awhile for it to arrive
