Had absolutely no reason to buy this but i did anyway. Got it for $28 on Amazon but it's not longer available. Was gonna try to mount it to my drift car but the wheelbase is too short for the body. Guess I'll just make a replica of my truck and have it as decoration or something lol

I grabbed the Tacoma body from horizon at the same price. It has gone back up now though too. I know it has a strange look but doubt we will ever see anything closer

My head is about to explode trying to figure out tiny micro servo's and voltage compatibility, then I get thrown the curve ball of JST 1.0 and 1.25 plugs. :annoyed:
    ( I think mine are 1.0)
The FMS rx has a 5vbec. The stock Orlando electronics ,servo and esc, are 3.3v.
So I assume the stock servo will smoke, and didn't order it anyway.
I think I found what will work, though voltage is over-driven just a tad. 4.8v to 5v isn't that much of a jump.
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CKN2C7H...=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWxfdGhlbWF0aWM&th=1
I also have a cheap pair that will be here Friday, that say can be driven at 6v, but the spec sheet reads 3.4v to 4.5v.
After watching vids, I didn't realize it has an optional sound card with speaker. Due to low real estate, I won't be bothering with this, but I do have some lights that may fit it.
Here I am trying to put together a list of stuff before I even have it in my hand..:anonymous:

Are you coming here to Texas for the Nitro Nats at Thornhill next season? The one and only nats my son and I did was in 2019. I wish he still raced. :pout:

Not sure I ever posted this old pic crawling with my son on an offroad trip:

[IMG]Untitled by MJH Creations, on Flickr

Took the kiddo out for some crawling this past weekend.

    "Dad, take a pic!"

[IMG]Untitled by MJH Creations, on Flickr

I wonder where he got that from...

[IMG]Untitled by MJH Creations, on Flickr

He really loves the RC trucks and I love that we have another excuse to go wheeling/another aspect that makes him want to wheel and camp.

I picked up my niece a Mini-z Rubicon for xmas.

She was down visiting earlier in the year and was playing with my stepdads Rubicon and was doing surprisingly well with it - making it up lines that can be challenging for 24/18 scale stuff. Either way she enjoyed it and I thought about getting her one of her own - but I also chalked it up to her just being bored. My sister texted me asking to get her one because of how much she enjoyed it. I am glad the mini-z stuff came down in price. :D

I tried drifting, but never could get into it...probably because I was absolutely terrible at it!

    Mini Z shenanigans.
The FMS RX/TX I had set for the Orlandoo Hunter is a 1st gen POS that doesn't have a drag brake setting, it's F/B/R. Can't get rid of the brake. That was changed with version 2. Since they are cheap I ordered a version 3 for the OH32X01. (version 2 discontinued)
And this one will be fitted into the Mini Z since the brake function isn't that big of a deal on it.
Not to mention the stock Z servo being a 5 wire total POS.
3d printed a battery tray to replace the RX.

and a RX/servo tray/mount. Still in progress. Shock hoop is 1mm too high and need to drop the servo 2mm for clearance.

It's close, almost just carved that out for it to clear, but there are other areas that needed attention too.

I need to weigh the old stuff and compare it to the new. Besides getting a much stronger servo, it's getting the COG a bit lower. :D

The servo is playing a game of millimeters. It's this close to closing the body, the hood hits.
Printing another, dropped the servo another 1.5mm.

I think this is close to the stock angle, (full droop) dropping the drag link a bit won't hurt much.

And how often do we have one axle bottom out on both sides other than in a jump? :D

The servo horn may touch the top of the tie rod, but it shouldn't ever hang up on it. Articulation remains the same and nothing rubs or hangs up.

Already tested it with body off, definitely faster with the extra voltage and it's super nice to have full speed and torque in reverse. Seems to be more agile on my test hill, but that's with body off.

Fits. Typical nose high 4-runner.

No batteries, lost the weight for the sag in the front. Gains, losses....:notsure:
I'll make another, with a revision for the front bumper, and another shock mount angled back to see if it drops. I can't raise the upper mount because it's already at the hood.
Slightly softer spring might be the ticket though.
Had to carve a bit out for the bumper mount. No mods have been made to the actual frame, or model parts, I'm trying to work around it.

    Doesn't hit anything.

I think I can rewire the lights, since those are cheap to replace if I screw it up. I had planned to install this exact set in the OH32X01.
The Kyosho has 4 pin output at 2.48v front and .88v rear, with the rear hitting 2.48v with the brake.
The FMS bec is 5v, but the light output is 2.5. Pretty sure I can wire all 4 lights in parallel. With the brake light on full time, or I can wire a resistor in to dim them a bit.
But they can all be switched off, which is another bonus when it's staring you in the face.

All my black Friday purchases came in. How the ascent18 looks as of now. I'd like to build a full exo around it next.

    Injora shocks? 59mms?

I have an Injora Tarantula kit that just showed up for the TRX4M which means the Ascent 18 gets the IR40 body this weekend once the bumper adapters arrive
