My 1/10 Enduro Trailwalker. I Managed to snag one of the ProLine Tacoma bodies on sale completely by accident, going to have the body shop at work paint it Pyrite Mica to match my truck. Currently running a Traxxas ESC out of my old Slash, other than that it's completely stock.

It's really nice, mine is set up for slight OD in the front and it seems to make it crawl way better. I've had a few 1/10 crawlers over the years and this one feels the most capable even box stock.

Finished the TRX4M Tarantula build and moved the IR40 over to the Ascent 18. Will take some pics once I set up some obstacles.

Off the cuff, the Tarantula is just a good platform because the body is tucked so tight to the motor, battery, ESC, and servo. There's no frame so there's nothing sticking out anywhere. Amazing approach and departure angles. Then again, the IR40 body has that too, but it's a hard body so it raises COG. Ascent 18 is still a kickass crawler with it on...

I designed mounts and a bumper to mount the IR40 to the Ascent! Let me know if you’d want a set or the files to print.

I don’t have experience with the smaller scale crawlers, but in the 1/10 world I always shim if needed all of my gears and shafts. The pinions can cause a lot of slack in the driveline, if it walks in and out when you roll it, shim it. Helps with gear wear as well. Some cheaper stuff probably just has too much gear lash, if they are straight cut gears then there’s nothing you can do about that haha.

FMS FCX18 users, I come here for recommendations.

The rig in stock form, flexes pretty well. Only thing I've done is the removal of the coils on the coilovers.

This helped with ride height as well as making the vehicle a bit more predictable for climbing over stuff.

It can get pretty sideways too before tipping over.

    20241212_160116.jpg

I just recently ordered Injora's magnetic body mounting setup which arrives this Saturday.

What I'll be getting next are a set of Injora wheels - 1" 62mm x 22mm - 3.78 offset as apparently it's a pretty popular setup for a tire larger than stock.

Where I'm stuck at, is if I should bother with a motor upgrade (would like to keep the current ESC and 2-speed transmission), and what shocks I should get along with shock mount.

I would like some longer shocks for more travel, but worried about getting too much height which brings me to shock mounts - any of you guys print your own? I'll need to get a set printed.

    The rigs side by side.

Longer shocks will help. Running full droop is great but (as you probably know) the flex is then limited by how much travel the shocks themselves have. Not sure about the FX18 chasiis itself, but 59mm Injora shocks are a common go-to on a budget.

As for the motor, if it were me I'd run it as-is until you kill the stock one, since my experience replacing a motor on my FCX24 with the 2-speed gearbox was a less-than-fun experience. If you need more torque maybe play with the gearing?

My concern with those longer shocks goes back to the whole drive height issue - pictures of others running the Injora shocks shows a really tall ride height.

But good point on the motor. I just figured "while I'm in there".

First thing I used with the SCX24 Base Camp was the cardboard bottom for 2 dozen eggs. So much fun with "the pink remote control car" that my granddaughter wanted for her 6th birthday, that I went back to the hobby shop and picked up my own white version! Since added the $10 oil-damped shocks for running with her, and then the Toyo tire and wheels set for $10.80 on sale, priced at Horizon Hobbies. The old cat likes watching it, too. I can't offer any advice or recommendations, and I know it's off topic, but that car in the background caught my eye, lol.

Ordered the Orlandoo Hunter Trophy truck and the Tundra last night. :anonymous:
    3000rpm and 500rpm respectively.
Two more FMS receivers, with one TX to rule them all. Already have the servo's from the previous build and plenty of batteries. They get here Tuesday, hoping I can hold off until closer to Christmas. Fat chance of that.
I have some Phantom Grey Pearl for the Tundra hard shell. I guess I can watch paint dry for a couple weeks.

Had two '85 Turbo's before as well as a '95. Just recently acquired this one from a friend.
