If only they made something like this still. I abused that thing in my early childhood!

Wasn't sure if they allowed adjusting down; it's what I do when I let others use mine on 3S. Don't own the brushed version so couldn't say.

The dude had an extra set laying around, 3D printed, super cool! Not a lot of weight to them, cool none the less, had to jump on them! Eventually, try to get a close approximation to my truck hah.

New shocks showed up for the tiny bouncer. I have mixed feelings on them.
Shortly after ordering them, I realized I really didn't need longer shocks, just the bling of aluminum bodies. The stockers performed just fine at this size.
Out of the package, they were missing one long spring. Bummer. I'll contact Amain and see if they will send it. Or maybe not..
Stock on the left. New on the far right and the center is with the stock long spring.

I tried it first in the rear with all new hardware, and the new springs having more coils have no sag and are too stiff. Cool, I used the stockers and they are better. But it does sit too high imo.

This is with stock long coils on the new bodies, and the top mount moved up to the top hole.
It definitely wheels top heavy now.
I have the option of removing top short spring and adjusting the collar to get the height, and end up with more down travel. But for now, I'm gonna let it sit while I think this through...

In the process of doing this seemingly simple install, I broke off one of the tine ball studs on the frame, flush of course. :annoyed:
Took some time with a pin vise and a micro bit and was able to drill it thru center, and crack it out in pieces. Thankfully, they are brass. Good to know when I'm reefing down on them.
    The little bastards are small.

Doing a side project to make a crappy RC into something less crappy. Or just waste time on it.
This was one of those Eazy RC 1/18 Land Cruisers that was complete garbage with a nice body shell that was way too top heavy.
With no body, the frame itself actually did pretty well.
So I came up with this.

Kind of looks like something you'd see in a junkyard used to move shit around.

It originally had a frame mounted servo, and subsequently, a full half inch of bump steer.
I printed a mount to get it on the axle.

That was prolly the single best mod that could have been done to it.
Interesting to note, it has a 5 wire servo and no ability to reverse direction on the TX.
Moving to the axle needed it reversed. I swapped the two motor wires and the two end wires for the pot and it worked! :D
It has metal cv's, axle shafts and bearings, but plastic gears throughout and no ability to swap pinions. I had a set of Injora oil filled shocks that worked out great with the lightest springs they had to offer.

I have lights for the fogs, just need to find one of the micro plugs to wire them up.

Nice! At first look, it made me think of the old M274 used by the ARMY and Marines, in Vietnam.

Some history of the M274 Mule. https://silodrome.com/m274-mule-1-2-ton-4x4/

I changed my NSDRC RS100 to a bottom exit to have the wires clear the shock and frame better on my Ascent. Also shortened the servo lead for better wire routing. Only sad part is I lose a bit of oriole with the bottom exit case.

@Hafaday unfortunately no one around me carries that Seymour cast blast paint. No one can ship to Hawaii either. Gonna try and find something similar locally

He sounds like me when I got back into the hobby about 20 years ago, lol. My friend and I bought T-Maxx's and I set mine up higher because I wanted it to look more like monster truck instead of being lower.

He should have a blast with that. And they pick it up quick. I think my son was around 7 or 8 when I got him his first truck. We both liked Monster Jam so we got the Monster Jam Traxxas Stampedes. Started him off at 50% power but that didn't last long. He was ripping that thing around all full speed in no time.

The ricochet is probably what got me hooked and lead me to a nitro t-maxx years later. Pretty sure I drove the ricochet off a roof at one point. Can't believe how durable that thing was.
Probably asbestos reinforced plastic or some other carcinogenic witchcraft.

For me it was watching WRC in person, only to get into RC shortly after when out of season with cars like these

    s-l400.jpg

I remember loving the sound of those Peugot and Audi cars

The Ford RS200 was one of my favorite looking cars too

I was enamored with the RadioShack cars as a kid. I never had a hobby shop that we went to so this was it for in person other than toys r us which didn't have them out of the box.

    PXL_20241217_153402612.jpg

Found one a few years ago but it is way finicky and I would be worried it would drive itself if I put the battery in it. It has a RadioShack nimh that I was able to bump and put some juice into.

I've found new reproduction decals and stripped it down. Now I need to polish it and reapply the new ones.

I've considered retrofitting new electronics but it has a unique servo mount and being complete with radio and battery has given me pause.

That's what I remember too... don't know if it was my first, I was 4 in 1995 so might have been a few crappy ones before it, but that's the first one I remember being actually good
