Leaving the hobby store...wife bought me an SCX24 cause she recognized the GX470 (my daily)

And for anyone that only has one and not the other, a lightly modded FCX18 next to a stock SCX24

Difference is much more noticeable in person

All kinds of room in the double cab.

Switch. The cab has two tabs that lock in the back and a spring loaded clip for the front.
It takes some concentration and a tiny screwdriver to pry the thing back off again. So the switch was nice to have.

Black flares just didn't work out. Color match was an extra option anyway. :D

    Decent flex for a limo.

This one is destined for a shelf and driven just for show. Although the RV trailer would look nice behind it.

    @Roody

I told you I'd be tagging you regarding the LC

So at the hobby shop I couldn't find any better springs. I take that back, I got some for a TRX4M and the spring rate felt perfect but they're too short length-wise. They're installed in the bottom pic but I took them back off.

But having switched to 30 weight oil made a huge difference as there's a bit of rebound (fully weighted) but not to the extent of making it sit too tall

    20241226_152836.jpg

It feels far more stable now in every way

    20241226_145632.jpg

    20241226_145755.jpg

At this point, there's nothing to change until shit breaks

Initial impressions of the scx24? Very tempted to get the GX470 since I have one as well. If only they made one in the dark blue color

Already swapped to 33's, they fit with no lift. Wheels look better than the chrome.

    Stock tires were 30's. (33mm and 30mm)

And the buggy gets 36's.

I see much tire and wheel swapping about to happen. The trophy truck needs some aluminum wheel love too.

Ha, that's the color of my own GX.

But since I owned a black 80 series I figured owning each one in opposite colors was good enough.

The SCX24 is way smaller so the stuff that's easy for the LC is harder for the GX.

The GX runs 100 times much smoother though and it's super noticeable; it doesn't have that clunky feel the LC does from a stop.

The GX feels very top heavy, moreso than the LC when it was stock so you'll need weighted wheels (even if you prefer to keep it stock). It also has a lot less travel (proportionally speaking).

Can't go wrong with either. All I'll be adding to the GX are weighted wheels and keeping it all stock. The LC will be my crawler/beater.

Wilson! Quit whining about heart transplant surgery.

I never verbally said that a Fusion Pro motor would fit in the first place!

Yes! I know you saw me read that part!

Wilson you're starting to piss me off!

It's OK Wilson. It's OK. :lalala:

Thanks, they're heavy precision pieces of art.
I have really got it bad for the clear aluminum housings! My wife would surly divorce me if I pulled the trigger on that though. That said I need to find a lighter red for the logo.

Man... the Tundra with the trophy truck on the trailer looks so bad ass. You're going to make me drop a boat load on these Orlandoos. :D

    .
Be forewarned, the Tundra is not a performance model. It has a very weak front end with lots of play. Also, the bigger tires in the pic, won't turn without some major fender trimming.
There is a full aluminum upgrade offered for the front, doesn't solve the tiny tires though.
The trophy truck and buggy come with 18mm wheels and 33mm tires. So far these are the only two that can actually be run, and the buggy wins for overall entertainment.
The rest of the models, including the Tundra, are 15mm wheels and 28-30mm tires.
The military and semi stuff are entirely different.

I have just learned to serve my time in rc jail that the wife sentences me to. She knows I'm a repeat offender now though and that once I get out I'll be back to it. Forgiveness not permission.

I'm waiting for another $99 sale and pulling the trigger on one

Running foams or inserts in the tires?
