I always balance my batts. My charger has a built in balancer, so I figure why not. They balance perfect every time.

It's a Vemon Pro Plus, it's a good unit, but now there are plenty of chargers that are just as good IMO for a fraction of the cost.

Flukes are known as the best. They're several models.

    Not me!

I wouldn't mind getting a 4x4 SC truck at some point, though.

Me too, I'd like to pick up a Factory Team SC10 4x4, but the saddle pack batteries are a deal breaker for me. I understand they balance out the weight, but, not very many manufacturers offer them, and I hate to think about model specific batteries.

From what I've read the older ones have a habit of pitching there belts. Plus the Teflon coated shocks, and other hardware is just icing.

    true

You could always look at the Losi TEN-SCTE, only downside is there is no kit available only a roller or RTR

I would never buy a RTR model, first I love to build them, second, the only way to know how your model works is to build it from a kit. And face it, if you race it, it's gonna break or wear out. Then you're lost as how to repair it. I know Losi makes some good stuff, but I've always been luke warm on them. However, back when Losi made/marketed nothing but motors (brushed of course) there "stock" motors were the best out there IMO.

A friend of mine spent $800 at the LHS today.

He won't tell me what he bought, though. Anxiously awaiting to see his bounty.

Haha, yep. Might just have to make a 2nd driveway and start charging.

I had my SC10 running on it a little bit today. It's only mowed down super-short right now and the stock brushed motor in it is more or less dead. It was fun until it got too hot.

Really looking forward to getting my new brushless setup running on my nice new track. :D

I'll be sure to make plenty of vids!

    Yeah.
So I have been out of the hobby for almost 20 years (and the RC10 still hasn't changed much) and was thinking of getting back in. I was looking at the SC10 4x4 kit (not the new factory team kit).

So, no good? Should I go with a 2WD? If so, which one, short course truck, buggy or regular truck? I would stick with Associated since they did well for me before.
