I think i will be investing in the Vanquish H10 Optic kit as soon as it comes out. It is on preorder right now and i love the random mystery body that you get inside the box but don't k ow what it is going to be until you open it.

I'm saving funds after my current build for the July TOF! I'm hoping for another VRD Carbon but an H10 would be cool. Good luck! Hope you get a Carbon livery!

Ok, as the wife could care less and would only hear "Blah blah blah...". I just ordered a Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster V3 Revolver ESC/Motor Rock Crawling 540 Combo (1800kv) and a Reefs 800lp from the local hobby shop. One week and I can fire this VRD up! I'll still need a body and paint but it'll move under its own power.

If this battery tray works (friend is gonna print it for me), then I'll share the STEP file.

    Screenshot 2025-01-09 163730.png

I found my FCX18 to be much more predictable, and better balanced, when I taped the battery to the rear over the crossmember.

It will suck for those that do not own the magnetic body mount to get to their battery so I don't think many people will "go for it". It isn't for them anyway it's for me.

Yes, I know my shock mount bolts are backed out (was measuring stuff).

It's like a cheat code on the smaller rigs. I tried every combo of tires and inserts I could easily/inexpensively manage and it turns out just running no foams makes for insane grip on every surface. Have heard trimming or punching holes in the factory foams can also be a good middleground.

For those looking at building mini courses in their yards/garages you can go down to local bridges/boat landings and collect a few of the rip rap rock used as erosion control and take home. Don’t know legalities of it but 8-10 of them would be a nice addition. Can be arranged infinitely to keep things feeling new and challenging. Go to your local building supply store and ask if you can take any broken cinder blocks and explain why. Same at any granite place that does countertops/etc. Pick up the broken pieces and have a slick side and rough side.

    More backyard fun.

My lovely wife bought me a gift. When she googled what I told her I wanted it sent her to Amazon. So, it's not actually a Vanquish third member, but the ring and pinion gear set up is easier. Sorry Vanquish I'll be more specific in the future.

Don't know if it should be here or the 3d thread...Just returned from Dean's Chop Shop. Stretched and narrowed Super Beetle. :D

3rd attempt turned out much better. Just need to figure out how to mount it, and go to red.

As much as I like my FCX, I feel like both the FCX10 and FCX18 are still a little short performance wise of what the "main" companies are doing. The Redcat IMO is way better than the FCX18 and the FCX10 has been having so many axle issues online.

    @Strictlytoyz

    Nice surprise today!

My Meus axles and LGRP tires arrived early this morning, they look gooooood

    20250110_082850.jpg

And apparently my Injora Prosteer axles are expected to arrive as well. I bought those for the GX470 but not sure I'll keep them.

I won't disagree, the FCX10 and 18 seem to be more for the enthusiast who wants scale looks with unique performance benefits (portals, 2-speed, etc) but not all-out capability. As far as my FCX24 goes vs the Ascent 18, the Redcat blows it out of the water capability wise. And yet I find myself occasionally wanting to play with the FCX24 just because the low-speed gear crawling is so great, which makes me want to pick up an FCX18 for the combo of how it looks and the low-speed gear. Redcat also seems more durable which is nice.

I should really get a "group shot" of my mini crawlers sometime which I might be able to do this weekend, it's only 4 but rarely are all of them assembled at the same time

That damn Redcat, I keep looking at it. I really prefer kits as RTR's usually get most/all parts upgraded anyway. \
    For instance...
Knowing that the plastic ring and pinion are destined for a short lifespan with the new tires, I'm already looking for complete upgrade axles for the Spider Pig project...:D
( I don't think metal gears are available for it)
And this started as a project to use up spare, unloved parts.
    Where will it end?

Just cause I'm bored, here's a pretty highly modified Redcat Ascent Fusion 3 link vs a stock Vanquish VRD 4 link. The Redcat's back tire is off the ground by about 1/4 inch.

Which tires did you go with? I have some 63mm black labels on the way. The 57mm I have on the Ascent made me wanna stick with them. My links are supposed to deliver today and my chassis tomorrow!!!! Had I nice talk with Tyler Chapman yesterday. Just trying to get a better understanding of different setups. Pretty cool that he had a part in designing the cheat code chassis with Mazz. If these rcaddiction links are no bueno for my build I'll be hitting up Tyler. That's if Mazz is still out of stock

You do know Tyler is 828RC where I ordered my links from

The LGRP tires are, Trail King? They're 63mm...I thought I bought 64mm but apparently that is their biggest size?

Also I left the house to bring the kiddo to this exploratorium thing and I THINK the packages outside my door are the Injora Prosteer? If so, I got two sets of axles today :bananadance:

Yeah they're one in the same lol. Sometimes I refer to him as 828rc and sometimes Tyler Chapman. Depends which one come to mind first lol.

I was so excited when my axles showed up, but now I can't do anything but look at them sitting there waiting for the rest of the parts :rain:
