Well, that's just your guess based upon what you would do in the same situation. Neither of us were there but at least I know her. This is the only ticket she's ever gotten for speed in over 20 years of driving.

I have the Escort Passport 8600. The range is awesome! I can "hear" CHP (California Highway Patrol) at a minimum of .5 miles on Ka band. More than enough time. I've had others but none come close.
HTH. I've got mine installed just under the rear view mirror on the side closest the driver.

Note: I do have X band turned off. Only people I've seen use it in the L.A. area that use it is DPW. (Dept. of Public Works). I had to go back to dbl check it too.

    Good luck with that.

If you look into real world testing of the various paints, shields, covers and other devices it's been proven that they have NO effect whatsoever. In fact Mythbusters did a great show about it. The cops who assisted in the testing were quite entertained and very confident that no one is going to get away with anything on their watch.

What about traffic light cameras though? I wonder if those covers work for that?

Laser jammers definately work if you live in a state where they are legal.

Traffic cameras see right thru the covers and plate coatings. If the human eye can see the numbers the camera can.

Call me a skeptic but I havn't seen any "laser jamming" devices that have been proven to work outside of the manufacturer's test lab.

You should watch mythbusters! :D They tested all the "camera beaters" out there: spray, plastic wrap, plastic covers, etc. Everything supposed to flash and over expose the image when the camera's flash goes off. Even driving fast enough to beat the camera (200mph super car still got caught).

None of them worked. The camera always captured enough of the plate to make out all the characters.

Short of having something in like the new Knight Rider where the plate changes (or make it white for the camera :D ), they'll get you.

You could make a little arm that flips it down so it's parallel with the ground so the red light cameras couldn't see it. Then again, I guess we could just, heaven forbid, stop.

Looks like the Bell STI is a good choice

For a real working lazer jammer, may be more of a detector or just buy you some time.
    http://www.1stradardetectors.com/Laser-Jammers/index.php

Radar(X-K-Ka) Jammers don't work, as per anyone that does not want to go to jail. However you can try to build your own.
    http://www.kenneke.com/plans.html

Thursday, while on a road trip in the wifes car, I realized I kept drifting above the speed limit, so I bought a Cobra Radar detector at Best Buy in Oklahoma City. 4-5 hours later, I got a ticket in central Kansas on the lovely turnpike. I saw the officer before the detector went off, but still got nailed as the officer was hiding behind a bridge and I did not have time to slow down. The detector only started going off as I passed the officer and he was closing his car door. It then stopped going off until the officer was right behind me. I have recieved 3 tickets in Kansas, on the turnpike, and otherwise have a clean history.

i've tried pretty much all the brands. and they all suck and are basically just a nuisance. except this Escort 8500 I currently have. It absolutely rules. Laser only falses when I use my cellphone which is a pain, but overall it is fantastic. i haven't tried Valentine. however, a friend has one and it works pretty good. only downfall it is the size of electronic warfare gear from an F-16.

Speed is not the issue. It is the difference in speed that causes mishaps.
If you are Bobby Unser and driving a real car, you can do 200 mph. in some states on some roads. With a hooker in one hand, a beer in the other and a .45 on your hip. Safe and purdent.
When has a mechanical failure caused you to come to grief? No it is the interchange of vehcles at different speeds. Following too close and unsafe lane changes.
This is a good a place as any to send my message.
I do not wish to be picking you up with a scraper.
Please, I beg of you, pay attention and,
    Stay Safe.

True it is a guess. But it is based on a lot of years of experiance.
Perhaps everyone was having a bad day.

I have a cooler one was that taught to me by an original Thunder Road Moon Shiner turned CHP.
You time what it takes you to do 85 between two spaces.
Then if someone is obviously doing over, you roll.
I tag `em fair and square.
This is lazy. You should be patroling.
But you have to eat and take a break.

What amazes me is that no one has attacted me. We must have a bunch of law abiding forumites here who may let their enthusium go.
I can assure you that when I get my super charger, I am going to test it.
    On the big road.
I doubt that I will be pulled over because I know the local habits.
If I am, I have tin and an ID.
This is not fair. But life is not fair.
