Hello. I have done Google searches for the constant power at the 12 volt outlets for my 2000 tacoma. I have found some threads but the links to the directions and possible pics are never valid.
So i want to do this to my truck. I know i can ghetto rig it running a new power line to the back of the outlets but i would rather have it look clean. I have read that it's possible to jump a relay and make it work. That is what i want to do.

Anyone know how or have the info on this? Thanks,
    Travis

Your talking about the Power outlets correct not the lighter ??

    Two different circuits

Remove the Power Outlet relay Jumper 3 and 5 I suggest you fuse the jumper wire

The only protection is the 120 amp Alternator fuse till that opens things might be getting quite warm

On mine the circuit is fused from the factory."PWR OUTLET 15A", upper right, 4 up from the relay spot (yellow arrow).
Additionally, each outlet has a fusible link on the back.

Since your now going to be Hot all the time there is no protection on the other side of what was the relay till you get to the 120 amp alternator protection .

I tend to err on the side of being safe to many years working on other peoples Trucks

I know you don't want to, but I installed a separate always on 12V fused power outlet in the center console cubby for my GPS, since it already had that type plug on it, like a lot of other stuff does. I also use it to plug in a battery maintainer in the winter, since I don't drive it much.

    Can ya spell Tonneau
2x. You don't need the kind of power (current, amps) that the lighter has for most electronic devices.
Look for an Add-A-Circuit or Add-A-Fuse. Find a constant on circuit and you can get a new socket wired up. If you don't use high current devices then you can replace the wire on the existing socket or purchase a new one. I purchased a new one for the back of my console to allow back seat riders to plug in their phone. I would have used USB ports but figured who knows what the next new standard will be.
