SO.. no one has heard of hotwiring a transponder vehicle or otherwise bypassing the transponder.

Yes.. if you swap out the proper ECU you need a key to go with it. That's WHY you switch out the ECU.. to match your key and then be able to smash the ignition and start it. The mechanical switch is still easy to bypass but the transponder is near impossible I hear.

AS for towing. Wreckers carry tools to get you out of any possible place you could wedge your car.. upside down in a culvert... they can drag it out.
Big problem with it is... they're super loud. THey're not stealing it out of your driveway. Between the diesel and the hydraulics, if you sleep through that.. man.. wow. That being said, my father in law pulled on his pants and ran out to his driveway twice to watch his trucks rolling away (later recovered in mexico, were stolen by Mexican police, well Mexican police were sending people over the border to steal cars for them. Got nailed in that first bit of Vincente Fox trying to clean up the police.. yea that worked)

I have seen some cars driving down the road with the alarms on. I assumed they were being stolen or the alarm was malfunctioning, or even more likely, the person didn't know how to use their alarm.

Seems to me, the best way to avoid having your tacoma stolen (via ignition bypass) would to NOT install an aftermarket alarm, and especially a remote start.

SO, without the intention of insulting those who had their cars actually stolen. Those that say someone drove off in their new car probably paid the guy to do it. That and the choads with diesels that think they can't be turned off. Fill their tank with the engine running, then go inside to buy some smokes and someone jumps in and drives off.. In that case, more power to the thieves. NEVER leave your vehicle running unattended near I35.

Yeah I'd have to cut the truck down the middle and make it wider by about a foot also.
