I Think I found a good 1GR-FE from an FJ. It is from an FJ with VIN starting with J (Made in Japan). It comes with complete wiring harness still attached. Anyone know if the harness will be plug n play with my 2006 Tacoma?

Also, anyone have an opinion regarding the reliability of 1GR-FE's that were made in Japan (VIN start with J) vs 1GR-FE's assempled in the US or MX (VIN start with 3 or 5)?

Anyone know if there is any benefit in using one Made in Japan?

    Thanks for the help guys!

The FJ 1GR-FE has Dual VVTI doesn't it? So you would also need the entire control system ECU.

Sorry, I didn't give details, my bad. It's from a 2007 before the dual VVT-I.

Still, any opinions on 1GR's made in Japan vs. US?

In my personal opinion I would prefer a Japanese assembled motor over any others. I think they have a higher standard of quality control.
