Within the next 2 weeks I will have my RTT under the Softopper with still full use of the Softopper.

Anyone have pictures of quicksand 3rd gen. with the Tan softopper? trying to decide between the black or tan color.

Can you tell where the water is getting in, and is it something you can seal up with a little work? I was thinking about running a Soft Topper with a Decked system, and putting a sleeping platform on top of that. Just want to make sure I can stay dry.

What type of discount did they give you? I'm thinking of replacing my Tan Softopper

I put some silicone sealant between the gaps at the front of the bed, in the seams at the tailgate end of the bed, and used some adhesive gasketing on the tailgate gaps. Worked like a charm. No water intrusion at all.

Definitely make sure you use the seam sealer ST provides on all the stitched seams when you first get the topper. That helps keep moisture from being drawn in and running down the straps.

Water will generally come in at the front corners as there is a gap there. I bought foam pipe insulation and put it over the whole front edge of the bed. No water and it makes it sealed so no mosquitos can get it either

Correct and the only note I have on that is put the seam sealer on the inside stitching not on the outside. As the previous owner of mine put it on the outside so all you see is white sealer residue on the outside of my Topper.

I didn't add the velcro strip on my tailgate so the bottom of the rear panel flaps. If I didn't pull the flap out after closing the tailgate, water could seep down. Think of it as untucking your shirt. Same deal. I found a little bit of water (droplets, no pooling) in the front corners of the bed after big downpours.

it was like $50-100. I also got the solid front and rear panels since the windows are pretty worthless here in the midwest with the cold.

That is nice to know as many members on here tried to get a Group Buy going and they said they didn't do discounts.

i dont have a picture, but I'm betting that you'd be happier with black. Always choose a contrasting color with the softopper, (with maybe one exception, black on black.) Trucks that are black, white, or a primary color can rock the tan. The grays and browns (SSM, MGM, QS) can pretty much only do black. I see others posting pictures that go against my opinion, yes your truck looks good, but I personally think it would look better in black. :boink::argue:

So your quicksand really only looks good in black, but at least it looks really good with black.

Softopper makes a grey topper as well. Keep in mind if you're carrying anything that needs to stay cool or camping in warm weather, the black will be hotter.

Here's mine .it's actually for a second gen, but I grabbed it off a member here for $100 and purchased the front and rear panels separately for about $200, plus replaced a few straps. Works great and is in better condition now that I've washed and treated the outer shell.

Edit: the pic shows the first try with the back window softopper sent me, which has now been swapped with the correct window. Bob at ST was awesome to work with and super patient.

Is the point of a soft top only for camping? Does anyone use them for anything else? I don't feel like you can do anything else with them cause people can slash them and steal whatever is in there. I've had my jeep top slashed (even though i left the doors open and nothing in there) and I would never get a soft top.

I use it for everything but a safety deposit box, so it's good.
Camping, glamping, groceries, moving stuff, hauling stuff to the dump, family trips, hunting, moving product from work.

I like mine. I have transported my dog in there, camped in the bed and it keeps stuff dry in the bed.

I use 303 stuff on it to keep it new looking.

I'm way late to the party, but another vote 100% for the softopper. If you have the extra $$ and don't need it to fold the cannback (spelling?) is a good option too. I tried a bestop on my 2nd gen first and had it installed for less than 20 minutes. All the seams (even sealed), you could see light through all of the stitch holes. The mounting frame was flimsy and I could never get it to sit nicely.

I got a softopper for my 2nd gen and ordered one for my 3rd gen before I even took it home from the dealer. I love the fact that in less than a minute I can have it folded up with open access to the bed with no height restrictions. In about a 1.25 min it is completely off the truck.
