I just went out and took a second look and no, I dont think theyll offer that type of protection.

True, I definitely think theyre on the more lighter duty side, but we’re not rock crawling our rig. Just needing that side protection when the occasional boulder shows up on the trail.

I love that you actually tested a proof of concept. Too many people believe aluminum isn't strong enough

Tons of high stress, tight tolerance stuff is made from aluminum. Aluminum is a great material, it's all in the engineering.

So I took a couple extra photos of the sliders this morning. I wouldnt say they won’t protect you from doors.. but they do stick out enough that if you have enough lift- you should be protected.

-But they certainly are not sticking out like the more common styles that everyone is familiar with. I hope that answers your question

Just threw the hilift on it. No sign of bending or anything else that would make me insecure. Again, the set is pretty solid.

Side note: wrapped some rubber liner I use in my garage to protect it from the hilift. Ill be purchasing a slider attachment to keep the process safe.

Be very careful using a Hi Lift with the door shut. They can slip out from under the slider and destroy the sheet metal on a door or smash the window out. Safe practice is to lift with door open...

Overall, still very pleased with my choice.
They are not powder coated but a rough/durable paint. They can be difficult to clean mud off but not impossible. -just not as easy as cleaning a powdercoated version.

Ive torque checked all bolts and nothing has loosened or shown sign of wear or bending.

My biggest issue is if I were to install them again I would use a sealant around the tubular connection point to ensure no water intrusion and keep it rust free. To do this now is just having time in my daily schedule to take it apart to clean and apply.
No excessive rust has developed to make me nervous or not recommend it.

I still think this is a solid bargain for the protection and weight. Im not a rock crawler but a simple overlander (Ive used them more as a step to reach roof bins more than anything). The family and I have completed several weeks of trails since installed with some being technical and they have not disappointed. Our budget couldn't afford the $$$$ sliders on the market today and that was our choice to make. We’re happy and if you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Thanks for the info! Realistically you think they could function as a side step, I haven't gone on any trails but want the extra security if I do. But I will predominantly use it to get in and out of the truck. Also is this a possible one person installation project?

They will definitely work as a simple step but they will also not hang up anywhere if you do run a rock over them. Best of both worlds for you.

Installation wise, i was able to mostly do it myself, but it was alot easier having the wife hand me tools and hardware. If you do it by yourself, id pull out a small floor jack to help you hold it up.

Did you have an issue with the front inner bracket not fitting the frame and the bolt holes not lining up? When I line up the top bolt holes the bottom bolt holes on the other side is way off. I have a 2019 TRD offroad not sure if Toyota might have added some thickness to the frame making the bracket too small. I attached some pictures, not sure if I am explaining correctly.

BTW these sliders was the most annoying thing I have installed in my life, I would not wish this torture on my enemies.

    Work in progress...
Justin Case anyone else has the "bracket not aligning" issue. I know this is too late to help gen-tso, but maybe someone else has this issue. Also it's easier to use longer bolts to first clamp it together then you can change those out with the bolts that came with the kit.
