Probably less safe than sitting on its wheels, but my truck has spent months on jack stands and hasn't exploded yet. Even rode out an earthquake with me under it once, luckily a distant one, but yikes. Be safe!

No luck with the OEM jack then?

BTW the e-locker info is for 2nd gens, not sure if its the same on your truck.

No luck getting full droop on the OEM jack :( is it supposed to rise higher or be more low profile because it seemed the same? Maybe I just got a long travel edition

Hopefully the extra 2-3in of lift I'll get from the floor jack at the stores will be enough to get this thing to separate...

Tires were already a full 3-4" off the ground and I thought it was more than enough

What you see is the top of the bolt that holds the spring pack together. The other end is round and fits inside of the axle they rust up because they are exposed to the weather. Jacking up the diff only compresses the spring pack you need to put some pressure on the axle but it does not need to lift the truck a hefty chisel and a hammer between the axle and the spring pack usually is enough.

The problem is the jacking surface.

It's too clean and level. :D

Hit the leaf pack with a 5lbs sledge and be done with it. There is no reason this thread is on a second page.

Give it a smack around the bolt. It will come lose. You can hit the bolt. It won't hurt the threads are on the bottom of the leaf pack. Just make sure you have a jack stand under the axle when it breaks lose.

there are no threads except what you see the other end is round and fits in drilled hole in the axle bracket. The axle has to hang free the jack stands have to support the truck not the axle. You do want to put a jack under the axle with about a 1-2" gap the round end of the spring bolt is rusted into the axle support they all do it.
