Anyone know what this is for?

That was my first hunch but why only on driver side? That's what made me lift the hood. Maybe you are correct but it is directly under the rear edge of battery support table? Thought provoking for sure

 

It's the tie down point for the rattle in the glove box and the howl from the front end

 

Say what???? Well I guess .... seems logical!

 

To figure out what it does you have to use this switch.

I string my rope through there to tie down the deer on the hood of my truck.

 

I called parts today at my dealer. Their best guy can't find it on any diagram, knows no service or sales person that knows why it is there. At least he is honest. I am sticking with my guess ( battery support table stiffener) . Likely no one knows unless affiliated with design team.

 

It's the prototype GoPro mount... GoPro would not endorse because it wouldnt advertise enough for them

How about a production tie down and/or a tie down for transportation on a boat??
