My local dealer said he is not seeing a listing to order an OEM Remote Starter. Anyone have an inside connection that might know when it will be out?

My dealer told me that the factory starter will be released for the 2017 taco, fall of next year. He says toyota will not gaurantee backward compatibility nor will they test it on a 2016. but said it should still work and was willing to sign me up as a guinea pig.

My dealer had been waiting for updated ECU reflash and has is now, so up to me to schedule appt to get it installed. They have 4 versions of remote start available and I have push button start which affects installation. Oh, I am in Sioux City, Iowa so remote starts are popular here.

My truck will be at the dealer Dec 29th, i called Hyannis Mass, Toyota yesterday and was told that they could install a remote starter on a 2016 Limited with push button start for around 500$.
Sound's a little expensive but i think it will be done right!

i will let you know on the 30th,,,,,,

Sadly I would say it's worth it in the winter... sadly because that's a lot of money.

What is the brand? Do you have push button start? Do you just hold down the lock button or what?

I have the remote start on my 16 Limited. I ordered it when I ordered the truck. At the time, the dealer said they could install it even though it wasn't on the website as an option yet. I didn't know that there wasn't an OEM yet. Not sure what's installed, but it works just like e171fish's.... push lock button 3 times to start.

I have an appointment next week to get it installed at dealer for $500 which is a little higher than what is cost me to get remote start installed on my FJ at Best Buy last year, but had problems with the Best Buy install. Range wasn't near what was quoted and sometimes would not start when very close, door locks wouldn't work sometimes, etc.. Not sure the brand, but as others have said, dealer has 4 options available and I feel better that it is being installed at the dealer instead of a stereo installer kid at Best Buy. I am in Sioux City, Iowa so a remote start is needed here at any cost.

Local shop quoted me $600-700 hundred today for simple remote start using the pen fob, guess I'll have to try my dealer

I was wuoted 980 at visions (canada) for 2way starter with alrm and 2 led screen fobs
Or 650 for same system without alarm and 1 led 2way fob and 1 reg fob at jb power.
Man we get shafted on price for everything here.

Thats a lot more than just a remote start though. Thats an alarm and couple probably even put your windows down for you.

I figure it would be more in Canada, but I am very curious to see the difference.
