The standard Pro Comp 4" lift kit for 1st gen. Tacos uses them. Not sure if yours is identical:

Your best bet is to call up Pro Comp at (800) 776-0767 and ask. Pro Comp officially calls this part "Steering Knuckle Spacer".

It's a cheap way to get the effects of a longer spindle, so the upper control arm / balljoint can maintain a healthy angle when the truck is lifted 4".

In the 6" lift kit, the spacer would have been too long, so Pro Comp includes longer spindles outright.

to me this seems like a cheaper why of getting a spindle lift but it just doesnt seem like our stock spindles could handle it as a lift component

    Nope, different function.

The Camburg or TC lift spindles shift the UCA, LCA and steering tie-rod attachment points higher on the spindle, so you get a lift while keeping the rest of the suspension completely stock. With the LCA point moved higher, there is no space behind the hub for a driveshaft to fit, so the lift spindles are 4x2 only.

The Pro Comp spindle extender shifts only the UCA attachment point. This in itself doens't provide lift. Lift in the Pro Comp kit comes from the shock spacers.

Indeed, because you have longer coilovers that are not part of the basic Pro Comp kit.
