So that's the bypass release for the auto shifter to move the lever without having the key in it?

 

That's what I meant to say.

 

Towing companies need to be able to put the truck into neutral with out the key so thye can winch the truck up on the flat bed or to tow the truck in neutral.

 

If they can get in the cab without a key, they use this feature. If doors are locked, they disconnect the linkage from the transmission.
