Interestingly I like the 4R looks in certain colors/configurations but not others. The pics you guys have posted here look pretty cool. I still like the Taco styling more.

My BIL got a 4R because he does have a kid, skis and mountain bikes and is OCD about being able to lock up his stuff inside the vehicle. So no external racks for him.

As far as colors--I have had black and white, both lousy to keep clean especially in the winter. Silver metallic is the best (my WRX), and currently I have a machine gray MX5 which is also pretty low maintenance.

I have 2 car seats in my tacoma, both kids fit just fine. The 4 runner is roomier on the inside for sure though. If we're going on a long road trip we'll take the wife's RDX.

I've had both in the 4Runner. Really depends on the seats you own, but there is enough room in the 4R. Tried putting our seats rear facing in a Tacoma and I could not fit comfortably with the rear facing seat in the back and ultimately bought a Land Cruiser. Both extended and crewmax Tundra have bigger back seats than the Tacoma. The crewmax is ridiculous. My 6'8" friend told me it is the only vehicle he has been able to get in the back seat in his life.

We have the 3rd Row 4Runner. We have only used the third row 3 or 4 times in over 6 years. We have the limited, and the FT 4WD is really nice. Have the same setup on my Land Cruiser.

If I didn't have kids the Tacoma would be a good option, but the back seat is too small for us. Had a crewmax Tundra, and the backseat was almost too big with an infant, as you can't reach them from the driver seat. I do miss having a bed though.

I was halfway tempted to get a tundra crew max. You can stretch out your legs completely in the back of those.

I've got both 18 T4R and 18 Tacoma, love them both for different reasons, and glad I have them both.

I have both...a 19 TRD 4Runner and a 19 Taco. I like the 4Runner much more...its more comfortable and rides nicer. I need the truck though...stuff around the property and hunting etc. My wife drives the 4Runner and we use it for the family vehicle.

I've owned both. I find the Tacoma to be more versatile overall, but the 4Runner handled better at highway speeds. Both my 2016 and 2018 Tacomas needed a lot of steering input to keep straight at highway speed.

I also have both '13 Taco and '18 T4R. Taco for work, hauling stuff, and minor off road stuff. The T4R is a dedicated off roader with camping in the mix.

Night and day difference between the Taco and 4Runner. Everything is better on the 4Runner minus the bed.

And cluster screen. The T4R guages are terrible and dated

True but at least the rear seats recline, fully boxed frame, 1-piece driveshaft, rear disc brakes, and no issues with driveline shudder even at 3" of lift, and still made in Japan ;)

Forgot the front seat comfort. My Tacoma front seats feel like they're 1" shorter on the legs so put odd pressure on long rides. Don't get that in my T4R, with 'electric' seats. :/

It’s odd that so many people in this forum prefer 4Rs to Tacomas. I prefer Tacomas, which is why I bought one haha. My dad and uncle have 4runners. Also great vehicles. But I don’t agree that they are clearly superior or even necessarily more reliable. Only time will tell with the gen 3s.

There's pluses and minuses for both vehicles so that's why I have the best of both worlds.

Motor and transmission in the 4Runner is much better than the 3rd gen setup.
