    I have both a Tacoma and 4Runner.
I think you'd be kicking your self if you dumped the 4Runner for a Tacoma...unless you need a bed.

What El Duderino said. When I thought I was going to haul around the grand kids I got a 2016 SR5. It was nice, roomy, not particularly exciting to drive, more family style. I traded it in on a 2018 Taco. At my age throwing a canoe or kayak in the bed is much easier than on a roof rack, and after I loaded the 1.05 OVTUNE is it much more fun to drive. The kicker is my wife likes the way the Taco rides more than the 4Runner. Go figure. Can't speak to the off road versions as both of mine were/are street versions.

I sold a 2017 TRD Pro 4 runner and bought the Tacoma and pocketed some cash.
    I regret that.
I still have the 2018 TRDPro 4Runner and it rubs it in. The 4 runner is a better vehicle overall.

My T4R buddy says he wishes he had the truck. He says it feels more rugged and manly. He constantly gets the yuppy feeling driving his T4R around town. His interior constantly stinks because of fishing trips and his rank ass boots. His interior also has rattles and scratches very easily. The silver sections have shown even more pronounced wear than in my Tacoma and mines older. Still a great vehicle.

You guys are killing me with the 4Runner pics. I love the Storm Trooper look. Black on white is a GREAT color scheme.

28 MPG avg would be great, but that would be pushing it. Those are Highlander hybrid numbers. I guess it could be done with a V6/hybrid, but the 4R is 400 lbs or so heavier than the Highlander.

I went from a 16 Trail Premium to a 19 OR DCSB. I do not regret my decision at all.

What do you like about the Taco over the 4runner more?

Well, I must admit, the back seat was never used. I have a wife and two dogs so a hammock and a couple of yellow labs are the only things that were ever back there. If I had a family that required the little ones to buckle up, I may have wanted to keep it. But the Taco has a bed, and I hated having to use a kayak trailer to get a new chair from Home Depot. Also, the interior was more appealing to me. Let’s face it, the 4Runner was basically a 7 year old truck with the same technology. The new v6 is way more peppy than the 4.0. But I guess after my FJ was stolen, I had hoped that the 4Runner would become the vehicle the FJ was but it never did. It’s all personal preference, but I simply felt that the Taco suited me and my needs better than the Runner. It was a great truck and tons of fun, but I should have gone straight to a Taco. Just my opinion.

I have a 2018 Tacoma TRD OR and a 2018 4R Off Road Premium for the wife.. 4Runner definitely has more room in the back seat which is crucial since we have a 17 month old in a rear facing car seat.. In my truck it is mostly just me in it, or I'll have my son and the dog.. Rarely do we use my truck for family "outings". We hop in the 4Runner and are more comfortable. Unless we need the bed space that is..
Driving dynamics, the 4R is a lot floatier, which I don't really mind. Brakes aren't as good/ responsive in the 4R IMO, but the engine/ tranny combo is fantastic.. Makes me miss my 2nd gen slightly.. The 4R is magnetic gray and has matte gray TRD Pro wheels, with Wildpeak AT3W tires, black out emblems, and I just installed LED lighting. Thing is sick for sure.
Bottom line is I love my Tacoma, and I love our 4 Runner!

I've been doing a lot of terrorizing lately. Terrifyingly terrorizing nuns, children and puppies every chance I get.

A truck bed won't solve his low self esteem issues. Tell him to hit the gym.

    Yes, I went from this 2010 4runner (yes, its a 2010 I swapped headlights)

to a 2018 TRD-Offroad Tacoma and in away I'm kinda of kicking myself for doing it maybe because the Tacoma hasn't quite grown on me yet (not enough time behind the wheel).

What are some of the issues, concerns, or thoughts you have about the Tacoma? Your insight would be appreciated
