I installed (3) Toyota OE tire downs at the front of the bed. (2) on the bed bolts and one in the center drain. Holds (2) sport bikes in place nicely.

Absolute true story - race weekend, I was really tired packing, and drove all the way home with my bike on the chock and forgot to tighten my tie downs.

That works too! I was trying to see if JP fab would make a center tie down eyelet using those 2 exposed bolt holes on the bed rails on our truck.

I don't trust the front bed rail or the rail cleats that much with a sport bike. Dirt or super moto, maybe.

Absolutely no on the cleats too! I think I posted about the front rail bolts -- to see if they are strong enough for an eyelet, but no one really knows. I guess i'll have to find out.

For those wondering like OP. With a long bed, I've hauled (3) different sport bikes. Each positioned straight in front to back. The rear tire rests on the bed just before the gap between the bed and tailgate. So your tailgate is never loaded with the rear wheel weight. You want this to prevent the tailgate from bending. I've seen a short bed taco hauling a dirt bike where the tailgate was bent from the tire.

In a Long bed, if you load the bike in at an angle, you will be able to close the tailgate.

like @stan23 said, Original Baxley chock is strongly recommended. Other brand chocks are difficult to work with and will sometimes wedge your front wheel in too much where its near impossible to unload the bike. I know because I own both.

    Look for the authenticity plate

Cycle Cinch is a reliable cycle tie down and easy to deploy by yourself.

And of course a bed extender. Can't go wrong with that investment.

I'm curious about that too, the way they box frame the rails together could make them sturdier.

I think the worse that could happen if they do give, is that you'll bend that front rail, but it's pretty solid (6 bolts to the bed)

But of course you risk your bike tipping over, but not really much of a concern if you use the baxley.

I've noticed the front bed wall has some flex in it. That's why I try to tie down the bike towards the bottom of the bed and not towards the front.

Interesting this thread came up. I haven't ridden my bikes since last October. I've been itching badly and I have 2-day supercamp tomorrow.

Nice I have friends who attend supercamp regularly. I have not ridden at the track in months, been doing car trackdays recently.

So far my Honda's have been unbreakable. Slow, but fully capable. I just want a 500 or 650 again.

Easy peazy with a Baxley and long bed.
