Anyone lost a transmission from towing?

has anybody lost a tranny on a 3rd gen taco from towing?

I've had one fly out of the bed once. I warned them that riding back there could be dangerous, but they insisted. Something about "it'll be fun". Well, it didn't look fun as they tumbled across the median.

If someone has I have not read about it and I read most threads. If someone lost one due to towing it would go viral because all those guys that think they are smarter than Toyota engineers would post 9,000 times "See? We told you this would happen if you don't add a bigger tranny cooler!"

Never mind it would be like one failure out of 1.2M.

No, I have been able to find my tranny after each tow.

 

I met a tranny with nine tows once...

 

The front would have to fall off. That's not normal, I'd like to make that known. But the front would have to fall off

Toyota was ballsy enough to remove the transmission cooler in 2020 so they must be pretty confident in the transmission.

 

I wouldn't trust it, if I had one with a no trans cooler i'd be adding one. I guess they're hoping that no one is towing anything heavier than a two place jetski trailer.

 

That’s about all I see Taco’s towing in my area. Given the size/weight of modern Watercraft these days, two Watercraft, trailer, gear and people likely would be at the limit (or possibly beyond) what a Taco is rated to tow or haul.
