Hi everyone! I live in Kelowna as well. Was wondering if any locals can help me get my hands on a canopy for my dark grey 2014 Tacoma access cab 4x4. Looking to use it for sleeping in while fishing up at the higher elevation lakes. If anyone could help in the area it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hey All! It's been a slow forum for the Kelowna guys.

I was hoping to get together with some of you. I work shift work, so lets try and set something up if you are interested.

Also, I am needing winter tires this year. I have been researching the heck out of the Goodyear Duratrac tire. Many people say they are a great tire in the snow. That's great, but I am wondering how they do on hard pack. Or even frozen highway up to big white or the coquihalla. I currently run Dean Wintercat SST, which is a rebranded Cooper winter tire. 5 winters and all of this year. Better tread life than I had expected.

I am looking for something that is better in deep snow, I know the Duratrac will do this, but does anyone from the interior have experience with them in our conditions??

ANY input would be awesome. Thanks, and lets meet up soon.

    Danny.

It's goin' Doctor office called today and said I need a CT scan tho... I'm not too impressed. Now I can't go back to work!

But I ordered some Duratrac's anyways! I'm having them siped. I will now be able to give a review of traction difference between Full on winter rated tires vs Duratrac's

    What do you do Jeremy?

I had some put on last year and can say they are pretty good in the snow. I don't think you will regret having purchased them.

Did you run them all summer too? Or as a winter exclusively.

I run Muteki Trail Hog, Kal-Tire's knock off of the Good years and love them. I drove to Kelowna multiple times last winter to see my parents and friends and never once have I regretted not getting a full winter tire. I also ran them all summer before and took them off road. They have just completed their 2nd summer and will remain on the truck for this winter as they have shown little wear. I currently run a 285/70/17 at 28-30psi around town and the ride is jelly on the highway.

    Hey Danny,

I work sometimes odd hours also sometimes but Id like to meet up with others also.

As for Duratracs, I really like mine. I just have the 6 ply right now and have had them in all conditions and they have done very well.
I would consider the MTR if I had an extra set of wheels but I like to just run my wheel/tire combo all season.

I mine are about 50% and I might sell them in the late spring and buy a new set but in 10 PLY.

    Drew.

also one thing I personally like and is kinda keeping me with goodyear is they have the rim protector feature on their tires so when air'd down its a bit more protection.

Do you go off road much? Where do you like to go wheelin' in the okanagan?

Does anyone go to the monthly amateur radio meetings at the Kelowna Fire Hall?
I am going to join one and see how I like it. Wife, baby and I travel a lot of active FSR's for camping and hiking, and we've had too many close calls with trucks.

I used to go a lot, but with a new baby it's been a little more at home. I like to go up to the trails in postill (nothing too gnarley, as it is the baby-mobile)

    Bata rd

powerlines out in the Gillard fsr area

McCulloch, lots of deactivated FSR and off shoots

I particularly like snow wheeling, as it makes even the easiest trails challenging. And less breaking stuff occurs, sort of.

Hey Danny and everyone else, whats going on? My name is Kai and I also live in Kelowna. I have had my taco since 2012 and made an account on here a year later and have yet to log back on till now. I wheel everywhere around the Okanagan with buddies in either one of my trucks. I also drive a sas 90 toy pickup and love it for crawling. Now that im back on here ill try to keep up to date and maybe meet up with you guys sometime at a meet n wheel. So here are a couple pics from the build over the year on my truck, it sits nice where it is now but will not get any more love from me till me crawler is 100%.

Glad to see you're back on the forum. I'm eager for winter wheeling as I just got a new set of winter tires of luggynes. Maybe next Sunday some of us could grab a coffee and take up a bunch of parking.

BTW Kai, you mentioned something about Total Chaos ball joint rebuild kits? Can you direct me to some info, as I can only find kits for their uniball kits for their own UCA's. I am going to need aftermarket UCA's in the spring, and they wont be anything that beefy. Probably just the light racing.
