I have a brand new 2025 Tacoma TRD OR with 5300 miles on the odometer. I currently have a problem with paint chipping on the inside passenger door as you can see in the pictures. I do know that Toyota had problems with paint code 040 which my truck falls under, but figured Toyota would have fixed it by now. What I was wondering if anyone else out there had the same issue and what did they do about getting it fixed? I went to dealer on first initial chip which was small and was told that Toyota will not fix unless it is bigger than a quarter, well the second chip showed up today and is definitely larger than a quarter. Is there something I can do to keep this from happening or is it going to continually happen through the trucks life?

first that I have seen that was not from rock chips or work boots. Take it in and get it fixed under warranty. PPF the area afterwards.

Appears to be the same issue the 3rd gens have. See if you can find a dealer to open a warranty case and get it fixed. If not, try opening a case with Toyota Corporate.

Are other manufacturers having the same issue with their white paint on 24 or 25 vehicles?

I haven't noticed other manufacturers with chipping white paint on new vehicles I'm not looking for it eaither. I know there have been issues in the past with white paint on non-Toyota vehicles.

4G white paint seems to be chipping earlier than in the past.

Here is info on the 3rd Gen White paint recall. May have to extend this to the 4th Gen.

The paint code is not 040 on the 24 and up Tacoma, it was changed to 0040 ,it is no longer a single stage paint. The new white is a two stage paint

I had white paint flaking off two separate spots on the rear bumper of my ‘24 4Runner shortly after purchase. Seems ridiculous to have to say this about any OEM paint process in 2025, but given the history and recent experience, I’d just skip white on Toyota’s altogether.

Called Dealer today and notified them of the chipping paint and even text pictures of the chipping paint to my service adviser who I am close with. He advised me to contact Toyota corporate which I did. They stated for me to take it to the dealer so they can evaluate the chipping and if it was not caused by an outside object hitting the paint, which should not be the case since it is in the inside door jam and protected by door. Corporate advised that paint is covered for 3/36000 from defect, which this surely is. Called back dealer with information and case number that was given to me and dealer said they will have to get with warranty manager, and he will get back with me. I sure hope that Toyota did not continue to use same paint as 3rd Gen. I ordered touch up paint for the 2025 as well from service and the paint code for the new 2025 white is 040, not 0040. Crazy thing is when I asked the parts technician if this was correct paint for my truck he turned around his monitor and showed me that the white, I had on my truck for a 2025 Tacoma TRD OR is paint code 040. Unfortunately, I was not able to use the touch up paint. When I went to use it, I noticed the little paint brush that usually comes with them was not there. Had to contact parts and order another 040 touch up paint with a paint brush.

I just had my flaking 2018 White Honda Fit repainted for $12,000 (Honda warranty)!
As soon as I got it back from the shop I traded it in for my 2024 Ice Cap!
    I guess I never learn.

Man, Toyota just can't seem to get white paint right. I love white. In the FL sun it really helps with the heat, but my next Toyota damn sure isn't going to be white.

I wouldn’t trust white from any manufacturer at this point.

Your touchup paint is most likely single stage. 0040 should be 2 stage.

The ice cap white on 24 and up Tacoma's is a 2 stage paint ,it is not the same as the 23 and older white single stage even though the touch up says 040

I have a 2024 Ice Cap. My paint is great. I was going to PPF the entire front as I use my truck for work and on the highway all the time behind semi's etc. Our Corolla got peppered and it was not good when we sold it.

After 25,000 miles I can say I only have a couple small pits on the front bumper which is to be expected.

Also, I know I am horrible, wait for it..... I wash my truck on average 3 times (many times 5 times) a month in a drive thru TOUCH everything car wash.

That’s what I was trying to say. Same color, but ice cap has clear coat.
