Do you by chance have something to show that it is a two-stage paint and not a single stage paint?

Googled it and it shows that it is two stage. I guess they just kept the same paint code from before, just changed the name.

    To the OP, pay attention...
I know what im doing here...
Park your truck in the garage look at the paint under artificial lighting...
Or even at dusk in grocery store parking lot, etc...
    Not bright sun....

Look for any other blemishes in the paint, dirt, pits, seeds, debris, etc....
    Look carefully....
They may opt to repaint your doorjamb.
The issue is, you have no idea if the panels were contaminated & its going to happen in other areas.
You have the opportunity to make them buy the truck back from you under lemon law / arbitration directly through toyota.
Get every sent back & start over...

    Look at my pictures....
Yes, I bought another white one with confidence...

I refused to have them touch my truck after they attempted to color san a few spots, looks like crap...

PM me if you have questions, ill even give you my # & we can talk, its a process but quick & easy at this point...

My Texas built 2020 with 040 paint is still sticking so far. Very disappointed to hear that there may be a continuation of Toyota's white paint problem despite possibly having a process change. Let's hope this is isolated to a very small run of 4th gens with white. If your paint failed on your 3rd gen it did not mater how much you washed and waxed it as it was an adhesion issue to the primer. Some of our 90's vintage GM white work trucks had white flaking quite bad.

@jbirwin hopefully Toyota gets this looked after for you ASAP. Some of the poor 3rd gen folks were left out to dry for a long time.

Below, my truck about 3 weeks ago. Will be 5 years old soon.

My neighbor’s 2 white toyota pickups don’t have paint problems… of course one’s a 1984 and the other is a 1995. Both still run fine too.

Damn… my last white rig was in 1994. It was repainted under warranty.

I see too many failed white paint jobs to ever own another. Silver for me. Two Tacomas.

I am in Texas. Lemon law says I have to give Toyota 4 times to fix it within 24000 mile period. Then I can file.

Its a paint defect & its arbitration through toyota direct, they know their paint is shit.
Ive helped almost 12 guys at this point, it will get bought back regardless of "the law"....
Paint is actually not a lemon law eligible item to my understanding & automotive background, along with talking to LL specific attorneys...
Toyota paperwork on my approved claim actually stated lemon law....

The other problem with the silver paint is someone on the road could mistake you for a Cowboys fan.

I meant almost 12 as its a ballpark #, this has been going on since the beginning of the release.
I helped everyone I helped, NOBODY has been denied.
Toyota knows their paint is shit, it's a huge problem, it's happening everywhere....
Theyre at the point where the cant say F you, to bad, its a $50k truck...
You cant produce shit day in & day out & expect us to take it.

Ive helped a few handful of guys that have been approved for buybacks, they have new trucks...
There still 3 that have been approved but still waiting for their return date,
This has been all through various states in the US, not just california.
Im not an attorney just a guy on a forum with sound advice as ive been through it.

Again, has nothing to do with mechanical lemon law,

What does the Op have to lose besides a few hours at the dealer while they do the documentation for him & report the flaws to toyota.

Sounds like multiple areas & not where you step so think a rock in your shoe is off the table.
Clearly there was contaminants in the primary or the bare metal & caused paint to to adhere correctly.

Its not like the flaking white paint happened overnight, this is worse than that, this is a new truck....

Be done with it, get one that wasnt painted by the borachos....

I think you should find out what that paint is made out of and where they made it. I bet it is from china. They skimped on something. Find someone that works in the mexico place and get them find the ingredients on the label. See where the train tracks go and then find the ships that go to the dock.

You know its fishy when you get run around. I'm going to google to see where the train tracks go.
