    Hey guys,

    So I own a 2017 T4R Pro - White. Love it.

Got a chance to buy a 2018 A/T Calvary Blue Tacoma TRD Pro at invoice.

Debating on picking it up. Anyone here own both, and how is it to own both?

My main hesitation that it might be redundant tbh.

    Thoughts?

Get ready for low quality...if you are used to a true JDM 4 Runner/Land Cruiser.

Big differences, the 4runner has a really dated entertainment screen, so the Taco will seem huge to you.

The rest will feel very familiar, including the power.

Personally I'd want one of my cars to get good mileage haha.

I have both and have no complaints. I dd my pro taco, wife dd’s the tr4. We take the t4r more often on road trips with the dogs. Idc what specs or paper says the interior on the tr4 is huge compared to the taco.

I had a 2nd gen prior to my 3rd gen taco and tr4 feels similar powerwise to the 2nd gen, has that lower end torque feel. It would be really hard to pick just one if I had to choice. Honestly don’t know which one I would pick. Love having both of them. D1D75465-44DA-4FBC-B8B2-F42173AD8322.jpg

When you say the space is a lot bigger in the 4R. Are you talking about the rear room or the driver seat / space? And waht's the difference in terms of comfort between the Taco and the T4R as a daily driver?

I did but then I sold the Taco.

T4R is a solid truck, just doesn't have a ton of power and gets 17mpg. I'll probably never sell it though. Co worker has a 5th gen with 269k on it and it has been almost flawless.

What was your primary reason for selling the taco?

    Wife's got a 2010 4runner and I drive a 2016 taco.

I love the 4runner. I love the tacoma.

Defintely more room in the 4runner for road trips in the back seat, but the Tacoma is more comfortable if you're a tall driver.

Let me know if you have any questions!

I got a job where I had to drive 30k a year, and a 4cyl with 35's wasn't a good choice lol. It sat for 5 months and then I decided to put it up on Craigslist.

That's my main motivation for wanting to buy this 2018 TRD Pro. I'm 6'2 with a very long torso and I seem to fit in there (no sun roof) since all the new TRD Pros come with sun roof and you can't get a tech package / leather on the offroad model without sunroof.

Both are great the 4runner definitely riders nicer and more comfortable with the higher seating position. neither are great on gas but I don’t commute far so it doesn’t bother me. So as long as you’re not commuting far I say go for it I love both

Unless you absolutely need the bed of the Tacoma, keep the T4R hands down.

Rear seat and storage area is massive on the tr4. As far as front seats, I’m 5’6 so both are plenty big. I like the seats in my pro better but most people like the t4r seats better. The leather in my pro seems more natural but the leather in the t4r is the faux leather I think, has held up great with the dogs and road trips.

Overall build quality on both is great but I think the t4r is more solid if that makes sense. Interior on the t4r is dated compared to the 3rd gen taco but I don’t mind it all. The ride quality on the t4r is fantastic, even with the lift and duratracs it’s smooth as silk. Mileage isn’t as good as the taco, but ya gotta pay to play.
