I just had two in there. If you have rear facing behind the driver seat at you’re shorter then 6’1” you be alright.

I have a ‘16 t4r pro, wife’s daily with 2 kids in car seats. It’s great. Loved it so much that I just picked up a 2019 taco sport upgrade for myself. I do prefer driving the 4runner, as others have mentioned there’s a ton more room in the back seats for the kids. I’m 6’4 so the seat in the Tacoma is all the way back and nearly touches the car seat. The headroom sucks in the Tacoma with sunroof, I’m willing to live with it though. I find I look out the top of the window in the Tacoma, where in the 4runner I can drop the seat down and get a better view.

I only have 3000km on it but I was getting some vibration when braking. That went away when I changed the wheels and tires. Otherwise I don’t have any complaints about the power of the Tacoma, it will still gear hunt a bit especially after going up one size in tires to 265/70/17

Thanks! I notice in your pic you have a dog. How does the dog fit in the back?

    The dog weighs 14lbs. Lol.

She’s a patterdale terrier. She’s got her own car seat!

We belong to a terrier hunting group that works the local and not so local ranches. The taco is my hunting/solo camping rig.

The t4r is my wife’s car. We also have a Ram CC diesel for work and for towing our fifth wheel.

The 4runner is a little more comfy due to better seating position and seats. The 4runner nose dives when you hit the breaks but could be and will be fixed with a suspension upgrade my wife drives the runner and i have a tacoma to hunt fish and work out of. The 4runner is better for a family vehicle. The back seat seems to have more room too because you can adhust the rear seats in the 4runner and you can also get them in 3rd row. The only way the taco beats the runner is because its got a bed and the infotainment is a little more updated on the taco. But thats about it. They both have there jobs and they fit our needs. Also when the weather gets real bad you can bed your butt i will be in the 4runner. It just feels more stable in the ruff. But i love my taco too.
I also like the fact that the 4runner has a manual shift 4x4.

An as far as power goes the 4runner has enough for what it is with the updated 4.0 but honestly the 3.5 taco seems a little quicker. Either way there isnt enough difference really to actually talk about it. They both get the job done. Neither are gonna break any track records. But thats not what i got them for. I bought them because they are reliable and hold there value. If i wanna hot rod around town i have a hd street glide special for that. :)
If you dont use the bed go with the 4runner. Or if you dont mind hooking a trailor go with the 4runner. I have a trailor but dont like hooking to it everywhere i go. So again i persobally drive the taco every day. They will both last forever but i feel the 4runner is a better made vehicle. Hence why i have both.
My kids call our vehicles toy yodos. Cracks me up. They like mommys 4runner better.
