OME. I've replaced the billies more times than I should. Plus it rides like a one ton...with flares

Thanks to all who took the time to answer, looks like they might be something to consider. As always the trick will be to try find a good condition 4x4 for a reasonable price.

I will say it was good entertainment in this thread.:popcorn:

As original as the word original. Guess being a mall cop doesn't require spelling

No, actually they are. Often times it’s the fat ass fingered users.

I have a first gen tundra and love it. The gas mileage sucks though, I average 13 with 33's.

One of my college jobs was a night time security guard, and we had an 02 tundra V8 4x4 AC that was driven 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It was rarely shut off for more than 30 minutes. We drove it 50,000 miles a year on a 1.5 square mile piece of property. I was blown away by how well it performed, despite being beat on by everyone. That was when I knew that I had to have one. So I bought one.

I had an 01 V8 4x4 AC for several years.

Bought it for dirt cheap in Phoenix. Got it cheap because it was beat to shit. Found mulch in the blower motor, wiring wrapped around the driveshaft, rear windows held 'shut' with bailing wire, drywall screws EVERYWHERE, and just other general fuckery. It had 282,000 rough miles when I bought it in a gas station parking lot.

Spent a lot of time undoing all of that bs.

It had a leveling kit (KWB stuff IIRC), intake, exhaust, and 33's. I too got terrible gas mileage.

    Took it everywhere, reliably.

    Engineers Pass

Took it into the North Kaibab at the North Rim

And then I traded it in for my current ride, a 16 TRD OR 4x4 DCSB in Inferno. Was sad to see it go, as it really was a capable truck as it was, but priorities shift as you grow older.

So I suppose this post is worthless, apart from highlighting how tough these trucks are. Hoping my new one is similarly rugged.
