I do recall that happening a lot on the Frontier, the exhaust heat shielding would come loose and I'd have rip it off. Or some other little nonessential thing would come loose. I did like the stock bedliner that Nissan put on. Very sturdy.

I'd use the manufactures Facebook page as one source. I learned this after owning an Xterra. The Xterra only made it 1234 miles before being scrapped by Nissan. The vehicle was deemed unsafe by Nissan Engineering, yet corporate thought it was fine. After buying the Pro4x package they offered me a base 2wd Frontier or Xterra as "there is no advantage to 4wd". I offered the arbitrator to fly out to New Mexico and follow us off road in the desert with the advice to bring comfortable boots as he will need them. Only after I started posting photos of manufactures defects on Facebook did they agree to buy me out at the cost of a new Tacoma with tags included.

I would never consider a Nissan product after my experience.

The Toyota is not without its flaws, however the vehicle is build for the 90% of the users. With a few minor adjustments it has gotten me everywhere I'd like to travel and it is far from the beaten path.

Nissan is the GM of Japanese vehicles. They don't make a product that I would take for free.

But it would have to be brand new, with a warranty, and free.
