Looks like you just answered your own question.
Look around and try to find a Subie dealer who gives "Lifetime Nationwide Warranties" like they do down here at Eastern Shore Toyota in Daphne, Alabama or Anderson Subaru in Pensacola, FL.

Why aren’t you considering keeping the 1st gen and trading the 2nd gen on a t4r or a tundra?

Most of those "lifetime warranties" I've seen, you are required to service the vehicle at that dealership. 15k check ups, oil changes, etc.

Another vote for a truck (any gen tacoma) and a 4Runner. My wife and I are very happy with what we have in the garage.

My Uncle had a Camry that was all that, plus it was even required for him to buy tires from that Dealership just to keep that warranty active.

Namely fuel usage and redundancy (speaking of redundant, her Tacoma was purchased before we were a thing BTW). An Outback in place of her 2006 will suit us and we might just stop there for now. It would be nice to be able to fit a car seat in whatever I drive and the 1st gen won't allow that. It doesn't make sense for us to own three cars (at least without one for sale), so keeping the 1st gen, adding an Outback and then getting a newer/more family friendly truck for me just isn't an option. Therein lies my dilemma. We've whittled down an Outback for her, so this thread is helping me dial in what I need. Pretty sure I'm going to make a low offer on that 2014 DCLB today. Thanks again all.

I hated the stupid roof rack in my Outback. Couldn't get proper crossbars on it. I like the Foresters much better. If I were buying now, I would wait a month or two for the brand new '19 Forester on the global platform. It has bigger rear seat room as well (for the kids).

    Had to tell you guys:

I ended up buying that 2014 DCLB a few weeks ago. It was a super clean, straight, single owner truck with 35K miles. And it came with two sets of wheels (that I didn't want. LOL)

With the money I feel like I saved buying a used truck over a new one, there was a long list of stuff I wanted to do right off the bat. I ended up scoring a barely used set of Icon UCA's here on the forum, then placed a call to a friend who is an ARB dealer. He hooked me up with a set of 888 coils, Dakar MD springs and Nitrocharger shocks. Low Range Off-road shipped me extended SS brakelines, their u-bolt flip kit, some Energy Suspension bumpstops and bushings. I also got the ECGS bushing through them, just in case, but haven't installed it yet. I've always loved the Sema/TRD Pro wheels and as it happened, I got an Ebay 20% off coupon and just couldn't resist. If you asked him, my UPS driver would probably say he's seen me a lot this week!

It all finally showed up by last night, so I got crackin' today!

I had the wheels (far and away the nicest set I've ever owned), but was torn on what to do for tires. I've only ever owned Toyota trucks and those trucks have only ever had BFG's so I guess that decision was easy: KO2!!. But what size? I read 285 70 R17 can rub so didn't want to do those yet, Discount or Big O didn't have any 255 75 R17 in stock, but Discount did have a 275 70 R17 in stock so...done deal. Had 'em mounted and balanced and threw 'em in the 1st gen while I waited on parts. It was jealous.

I'm pretty stoked. Gonna cool off the credit card for a bit and then look in to some RCI sliders and skids, a few interior mods and call it good. Our 1st and 2nd gens will be for sale shortly. Thanks to you guys for all the help. I guess this needs to get moved to the 2nd Gen section now!
