Anyone paint their OEM rims black, so that they almost look like the PRO's???

Of course, to be more PRO worthy, you would need the TRD centre caps, but just curious if anyone had painted their OEM rims all black. Did you use rubber paint?

I would spend the money and have a shop do the paint job with a matte or satin finish. This way it looks perfect and if it chips its on them. They prob wouldnt charge too much so it would be worth it.

I read on TW someone actually had cut black vinyl applied to the silver part of the rim and it looked good.

Tried to search for the referenced post, but couldn't find it.

(TW search function is not great, surprising since the forum itself is)

20171105_120210.jpg 20170915_070815.jpg I painted mine black. I also bought the trd pro center caps but didn't like the red so I painted those black too.

Pro wannabe? Not with paint, you know how that will look after the first gravel road you hit!

Not a bad idea. I used rustoleum on my winter rims, but they needed the rust protection. But on aluminum rims, I too will Derp.

Looks so much better with them black, and 2 cans of plasti dip is all it took.

100 bucks a wheel before labor cost is too rich for my blood and I'm kinda a dip fanboy as well.

Didn’t want to drive a limo, and U-turns on narrow dirt roads are next to impossible, anyways!! :)

All black on those looks super cheap. I think Toyota actually designed a pretty good looking stock wheel for the OR's.

I completely agree. The benefit of plasti dip is its temporary and you can decide if you really like it or not before making a permanent mistake.

If i was going to go with paint (which would be hard to justify monetarily) I would pay to have it done correctly. Sandblasting, correct paint, high quality sprayer in a booth. I would not risk rattle can drips or chips after a few years on a 38K truck.

I was actually thinking about spraying my wheels for winter and then peeling it off come spring.
