I want to paint the bed bolts and those hooks with bedliner. Bed bolts should be simple. Alcohol. Tape. Paint. Are those hooks thru bolted? Tapped into a plate? Will they thread right backin if i take them off? Also. Has anyone done it? Does that surface coating hold paint well?

They are screwed into nutserts as far as I know.

I think these are galvanized parts. I painted some on a 1st gen once but don’t think those were galvanized. Worst case, paint chips off over time.

It will probably chip very fast and look raggedy. 2¢

You sir, have too much time on your hands.
Reminds me of a buddy of mine that used to remove his wheels when detailing his truck.

Don't like the look of bare metal. Kind of the same as dechroming.

Power to ya! I think as others posted, the nuts for the "loop" are retained. So just unbolt and paint. The bed bolt is definitely retained, as I took mine out for stiffeners.

As the other poster stated, they'll probably chip off in quick order.

    Reserected from the dead.
The bolts screw out. No backing wrench is needed.

I'd just take a Magic Marker to them. It will adhear to galvanized coating quite easy. Easy follow up as well.

Galvanized can hold bedliner. I put one coat of galvanized primer and three coats of rattle can bed liner on this old galvanized boat trailer two years ago when i turned out into a kayak trailer and it has held up well. But i don't run straps around it either.20190202_130443.jpg
