OP, FYI the yellowish rust you describe on the bolt threads is actually a type of thread locker.

Best practice dictates that if you use additional loctite, to make sure you remove all of the factory stuff first. On the Polaris Rzrs that the Canadian Army got the factory threadlocker reacted very negatively when mixed the loctite. It created a lubricant of sorts and would cause the bolts to back out.

I don’t know if this would be the case with Toyota’s factory threadlocker, but better to be safe than sorry.

Wish they used better threadlocker lol! Don't worry I check these bolts every morning I wake up just in case they vanished overnight.
