Im looking to upgrade my door speakers and add tweeters. I know Im looking at the mtx line and they have to be 6.5" for the fronts. tweets are 1". Ive tried tons of places, and no one really carries MTX..Can anyone give me an idea where to start? Ive already tried crutchfield also as my last resort:rolleyes:

mtx does make some quality stuff, i just got two of thier new 10" thunderthin subs and i was very suprised at how well they sounded...i have recently bought about 600 worth of stereo equipment from www.sonicelectronix.com and have had a great expeirence with them...they were who suggested the mtx subs...i was hesitant but took his advise and he was right....i compared them to two jl 10w1v2 and two pioneer premier flat subs so i do have a basis to compare to...they have a new line of mtx stuff there that looks pretty good....a

I've had good experiences buying from the audiophile regulars on the www.diyma.com classifieds. You can find lots of good equipment there used and "NIB" (new in box).

My friend has 2 12" MTX subs in his 1st gen taco. and he blew them....im not a fan of subs that blow.

ill never buy MTX, or Polk. terrible subs.

im in love with my kicker and its the best sounding sub I'VE ever heard. ill never buy anything else. amazing speakers.
    why not kicker or alpine?

To be honest, a 2way speaker is one that utilizes a woofer mated with a tweeter. Most 3 way designs add a "super tweeter" that plays waaay over the human threshold of hearing. Anything over 20k (if you can hear REALLY well) is totally inaudible.

I can blow any sub you give me. All I have to do is put it in the wrong box and feed it dirty power. A good sub in the right box being fed clean power is going to sound good.

I don't recommend those brands because they are mainstream stuff that has most of the MSRP paying for marketing. You have smaller companies busting their butts making AMAZING stuff and selling it for even less.

I'm not trying to toot my own horn here but I'm well versed on audio stuff and I usually put together a great sounding vehicle. You know what I run in my car? Tang Band 6.5" subwoofers....4 of them. You'll never see them in any store though. You can only get them at Parts Express and I think they're like $45 each. It's all about finding the right sub for what your goals are and what will work with the other system components.

I'd be inclined to say there is an ideal sub for every application. However, there is not one ideal sub fit for all applications. ;)
