Too early to tell, the first big outdoor long weekend trip will be the test. I had an extended cab short bed gmc prior to my DCSB and I had filled the back of it on numerous occasions...mulch, stones, firewood, camping gear, dead animals, you name it... so I was on the hunt for the long bed. In the 2 years I was "on the lookout" for my new truck there was not one DCLB to be found anywhere within a 3 hr drive. That pretty much sealed the deal for me...

If Toyota comes out with a DCLB TRD OR with a manual I'll be first in line:D

My first truck was an 07 access cab prerunner, had it for 4 years and had the bed actually full maybe 3 times and that was just to move friends. Then I got engaged and I knew a family was in my future. Knew the access cab wasn't gonna cut it. Went and traded it in on a brand new 2011 double cab trd offroad. Lost a foot of bed and gained a foot of interior space.

I've added a tool box to my new truck so it's cut down on the bed space even more but I've been able to haul and carry everything I need whenever I've needed to. Just takes alittle time to pack the bed just right and you're all set.

Overall I'm happier with the dcsb versus the access cab. I prefer more room inside then the extra foot of bed space.

When you are talking about one foot, it doesn't really matter w/ a tacoma. 5 ft or 6 ft, you still can't put a sheet of plywood in there and close the tailgate. If we were talking a full sized truck, I would want a long bed.

I love my short bed. Only time I wish I had a long bed is when I would need to tow my bike. It needs another foot past the short bed with tailgate down

I dont know... but in 6 years of owning my Tacoma i had bring tons of items from different stores mostly Home Depot and Lowes. with exception of specific wood most items fit in bad. 8 foot long 2x4 still fit inside the bed but at the angle. Majority of Other items seems to be 6 feet. If I had short bed I would have to drive with gate open.

You could save the money from purchasing a long bed, and get a nice enclosed trailer.

I purchased my used 5x9 trailer for $1200.

No. It fits my needs. I can still put a full size dirt bike in the back, I can still haul big things. I hauled a love seat/couch yesterday and I could shut the tail gate and had room still. Plus the LB looks funny stock IMO. But do what fits your needs. Can't go wrong either way.

I couldn't imagine buying an SB.. the LB looks much nicer, is more useful. The SB just looks chopped off...

Ah well, to each his own (having choice is never a bad thing).

I never haul anything and carry more people than gear, so DCSB made the most sense for my purposes. On top of that I park in a parking garage here at college, so the slightly shorter length of the DCSB is a plus when maneuvering/parking in there. I have yet to see a full-size long-bed truck be parked in there. It is practically impossible. Another DCSB with 6 inch lift had to stay on the first floor because the ceiling was higher. I still don't know where he goes when the 1st floor is full.

Oh and DCLB looks like a squatty wiener dog stock:D

Glad I went with the LB, sometimes I wish it was 7ft long but get by on 6.

I have a DC short bed as well. My truck is used more as our second car than a truck, but if I was buying another one I'd get the long bed.

x2. i would rather have a DCSB and a trailer than just a DCLB. DCSB and a trailer will move/haul more than a DCLB.
We have a 12’X7’ open trailer. Also my dad has a ’00 extended cab tundra, and one of my brothers has a ’09 silverado. If i really needed to move something i could use get one of there trucks and hook up the trailer.

For everyday driving the DCSB is a great size, Quite a bit easier to park than both dads truck and my brothers truck.

oh. yeah. I don’t think he was saying both. which if it’s just a love seat i can see it fitting. the tail gate shutting would depend on the exact measurements it. (one style may fit when another maybe 3” to long or something)

Glad I went with the short bed fits in my garage and it's easier to park. But I also have a 6'x12' open trailer if I need to haul large items. Even if I had the full 6 foot bed I would use my trailer it's much easier to load with the ramp for big stuff.
