Anyone regret the lift?

I just regret trying to fool myself into thinking i would not go all in on a vehicle again. The money pit continues on..(in a good way)

ill chime in, no lift...but put 255's on to get 33's while I saved up for a lift and decided what I wanted...ever since putting them on my want for a lift has wained because of how happy with these I have been...maybe one day but im a huge fan of this set-up

I noticed the same thing w my 2" spacers, it has a perfect level but to me it looks a little nose high. I was thinking of putting a 1" block in the back but then thought of maybe adding a leaf but dont know which one yet as most range from 1.5-2 of lift. I def dont wanna be rear high again so the 1" block is what I'm thinking. I know toytec offers a 1/2" shim kit which act as blocks anyway but only give u the 1/2" of lift and idk if that'll be enough to my liking, decisions decisions ha

    @Breeze900rr

Did u think u have a need for extended shocks in the rear with the 1" block? I know my 07 Tacoma I had 5100s and an add a leaf in the rear so ain't quite sure if the stock shocks will be good with a 1" block

I dont go offroad much at all so I just did a 3" front 2" rear level lift from Low Range Offroad with 1½" wheel spacers and 285/75/16 K02's which are almost 33's.
It's a little stiff for my liking but someday I will upgrade to full suspension lift.

Need??? No. The ride definitely stiffened up in the back. The most off roading I plan on doing is driving through cow pastures and logging roads while hunting so I'm fine with it the way it is.
I'll probably add some shocks in the future though just because I like the way they look.

Does anyone know the factory length rear shocks?
I kind of would like to upgrade my rear shocks but I'm running a 2" block and I'm not 100% sure what length or rear shock to run.

Most shocks tell you what lift they match up to. For 2" I'd go with bilstein 5160 rear shocks.

I didnt know that. Before my Tavoma, I built 2nd gen toyota pickups so everything was custom. It sucked having to figure out collapsed and extended length then find shocks that would match up lol

You still should do that. I took measurements when I installed my shocks. Here's a nice thread with rear shock options and lengths:

I didn’t plan on adding a lift, but when I added the side steps it seemed like it dropped a 1/4 inch, then another and another for the bed cover and roof rack, pretty soon I didn’t like the look anymore so decided to get a lift. If I knew I was going to end up lifting it I would have gotten the off road instead.

71tattooguy are the wheels in this pick stock?? I see the yota emblem, but they seem to have more of an offset than most non TRD models. I dig this setup

No and I wish it were feasible to lift it 6 inches, you know without it having to be a drop bracket.

Initially wanted to lift, decided on getting wheels and tires first. I'm very happy with the look and have now decided against lifting.

The only thing I'm going to do now is change out the steps for sliders.

The only thing I regret is not spending more on an ICON setup. If I would have waited for the pro, which could have been a pretty long time, I would have just put tires on it. I'm so glad I decided to go with the offroad and put that extra into my own stuff. It's a good thing I planned on regearing before I bought it, because the tranny is noticeably suffering lol. I don't even have 34+ inch tires yet, but I plan on it. My E rated 285's are heavy bois. Just as heavy as some 35's. I can't wait to experience the 5.29's and then tune it. I've lifted in the past and never done gears. The only issue I've ever noticed was the lack of power and shifting issues due to a heavier setup. Regearing, especially on these undergeared Tacos, is a very smart choice to get the most life out of your truck after lifting. You really have to know what you are getting into before you lift a truck. Some bigger trucks handle it better because they are designed to pull more weight. Our Taco's are not.

But other than that, no ragrets.

    Regrets.jpg

I plan on keeping this truck for a long time, and I plan on dealing with anything that happens in the process. It's hit and miss, and the same thing can be said for stock vehicles. Some have lifted trucks pushing 200k with minimal efforts, and some stock vehicles see problems right out the gate. That's life.

Hell, if I could afford it, I'd go full send on a long travel setup even though I have no use for it. I'd go well out of my way to put it to use.
