I know what you mean about the dealers being like that because I went to four different dealers who were the same way. I found the fifth one that completely shocked me by saying that I could get whatever I wanted. The first four dealers were dead set on trying to talk me into an auto, but I wasn't willing to budge on that deal. I guess you've just got to find the right person to talk to. I had to wait three months to get my M/T OR, but that's what I wanted. I'm even happier than I thought I would be! During that three month wait theres a lot of stuff going through ones mind, and my main concern was whether or not I would have buyers regret. I negotiated my payments and drove off the day after Thanksgiving, after a seemingly endless wait, and haven't had a single shred of regret from day one. Get what you really want and you won't have any worries. Settle for something because of what a salesman tries to talk you into and you'll be mad at yourself every time you hit the unlock button on your key fob. I'm just sayin.

That sounds awfully rational. I would have blown a gasket if That happened to me. If you wait on another, check the paperwork!!

You lost me when you said Crawl Control. Manuals don't have or need it, so basically your response is moot. The OP is looking for a M/T.

Title of the thread was, "Anyone regretting waiting for a TRD OR?". There you go. And why do you even care what my response is? I stated why I didn't care to wait and my rationale for it. Didn't say it represented everyone else's opinion.

You made a great point. You like all of the features a sport has to offer, and yes he should get what he wants. I like everything the OR has to offer just like you. I actually dislike everything the sport has to offer, and thats what makes everybody different. A guy I work with bought a Sport just weeks before I took delivery of my OR, and we are both as happy as can be. I'm just happy Toyota makes these Tacomas in wildly different trim packages. I guess thats why they have no problem selling their trucks, they cater to every kind of person out there.

If you pay any attention to this forum you would know that the title of a thread and the full intent of the OP's discussion are two different things. Otherwise the titles would be as long as my response to your pointless response.

I'm glad I got the off-road! Having the locker paid off today driving up this super slushy icy muddy road today. Tires started spinning, pushed the locker button, it engaged and up I went. Was awesome!

Cramerton?! I'm in Stanley and I work in Belmont. I've seen your truck unless there's another local with the same one.

Same, I got the off-road in black... The fender flares are black, but the are a matte finish. I also like having the chrome plastic bumper as opposed to a black color matched like on the sport... OR >>>>>>>>sport:broccoli:

My base trim 2011 has clutch start cancel. Damn thing didn't even come with intermittent wipers. Had to install that myself.

Dealer sent me this pic this morning. She arrived a couple weeks ahead of schedule. I can't wait to go get her this weekend.

I waited about 6 weeks for my DCORSB 4WD A/T in Quicksand and I don't regret it.

I can confirm what the earlier poster said about not being able to "order" a custom built truck. The dealer explained to me that the trucks are allotted to the region. I live in an area served by Gulf States Toyota Dealers. I "ordered" on Dec 23 and at the 6 week point the salesman told me that the exact truck I wanted was only allocated at 2 trucks per month for the entire region. I wanted a tonneau cover and V6 tow package without the premium/tech package and I wanted it in Quicksand.

Long story short, he called me on February 1 to say that a truck like the one I wanted, except with the P/T package was on the transport and being unloaded at a nearby dealer. He confirmed that I could get that truck that day if I wanted it. Otherwise I would have to wait an unknown amount of time for the stars to align and my exact truck to be built.

I took the truck with the P/T package and got it at invoice price, about $2k under the sticker price, but still a couple of thousand more than the truck I had ordered.

As far as the P/T package goes, I like the moonroof a lot and the JBL audio. But, as others have reported the Blind Side Monitor system has already failed and I will be taking it in for warranty repair soon.

So yea, I basically got the truck about two weeks after it was built, and waited about 7 weeks total for it after putting down a deposit. I got exactly what I asked for, spec'd with the clear bra, mud guards, all weather package, and tow package ... I paid about $1000 under MSRP, and I'm okay with the price, a hair over $33k. I think it's a lot of vehicle for the price. I don't know if I would have been as satisfied with the truck, even with a few other features, if it had of cost in the high 30's like some pay with the Limited or Technology Package. Again, everyone has their own wants/needs, and this was almost perfect for me. The only thing I really wanted from the T/P were the heated seats, but at least the TRD came with heated mirrors standard :)

I took delivery last night. I love it. The manual transmission is smooth. It's just plain fun to drive. Everything I thought may be a problem from reading on here the last 6 months were completely invalidated within minutes of being inside it. I was worried I would be too tall for it, being 6 ft. No way, the ceiling is far above my head. I was worried about the steering wheel not coming down far enough for a comfortable driving position. Nope. The steering wheel can be lowered right into my lap. People bitched about the sound system. It's not a high end system, but it doesn't sound BAD. I really have no issues with this truck. I put in my kids' car seats in the back seat, everything fits great. The color, the styling, it's just an awesome truck. I had so many compliments at work today. "That's your orange truck out there? Dude, that thing is sweet!" I love this truck. Now if only I could get Husky X-act Contour liners for a manual transmission. CURSE YOU HUSKY!!!
