Did a 24 hour race this weekend. We had a 6 man team and put in over 620 miles. Pretty brutal. We ended up finishing in 3rd place in our class (17 teams) with over 100 teams in attendance overall. Not bad considering that the average age of our team was 37 or 38 years old. The hardest part was racing at night with minimal sleep and very little light.

They’re getting hard to find in nice condition. If you get lucky, they bring a high price. I have to admit, mines cleaned up and a garage queen. I only bring it out once and a while to scare kids. It’s bothersome that most parts are discontinued. Some guys are fabbing them for profit.

There is NOTHING like big bore 2-stroke power. John Deere (torque) it around or whip the throttle open to make it sing. Chances are, your front end will be in the air.

how do you like the beta? I don't know anyone who has one, so I'm curious as to what you think in comparison to the Japanese bikes? I love honda two strokes, but no new ones to choose from. I really like the looks of the beta 300.

Cant go wrong with the beta. I prefer ktm, but the betas are really nice. Dealership/parts availability is going to be lacking by comparison though.

The only japanese two stroke is the yamaha 250 anyways. A bit dated tech but its a solid bike

Love Betas... this is my 3rd (unfortunately it was just stolen 2 weeks ago so I’ll be getting my 4th!)

Hard to compare to the Japanese stuff, and if you’re used to a Japanese MX style hit you might be disappointed (the 250 is a little more aggressive in the higher RPMs than the 300)

I love the 300- tons of power and suits me well, I’ll ride around a gear too tall and the 300 never complains. Pretty stoked to try the new counterbalanced motor- never noticed the vibes but smoother is always better.

All of my betas have been bulletproof (my dealer was a couple hours away) but doubt you’ll ever have to visit your dealer anyhow. One thing nice about KTM is the dealer network which is good, the one I had required some maintenance (it was a 4t) Beta 4t I owned never asked for anything. Not saying KTM’s aren’t reliable, Beta is just REALLY reliable.

My group of guys I ride with are all on Beta or Sherco (ok, one Sherco in a group of a dozen Betas) so at least where I’m at they are well represented.

ah, thanks. i know ktm is a good bike, but i'm just not crazy abou them.

thanks for the input, and i am used to japanese bikes, it's all i grew up on and love. i won't go to the dealer except for parts, i like to work on all my own stuff anyways.

Mine was stolen a couple weeks ago so you might find a killer deal on a fully set up 2018 300rr soon! I’m guessing the meth head who took it has no idea what it’s worth or the hours I’ve spent on shock and fork settings to get it dialed... oh well. I ordered a 2021 and it should arrive in a few weeks. Start the whole process over again.

Don't have any other pics on hand, but here's my '06 CRF450X (aka trail tank). It's got all the fixin's with armor, trail tech, rekluse, custom suspension, BD street legal kit and much more. It's heavy AF and handles that way, but still a joy to ride.
