Sounds like I'm gonna have to put a hold off on a new audio build still gonna get a ho alternator for both my Tacoma and my Sierra but as of more than that I'll be waiting to see what the oil prices does sounds like my company just dished out my second pay cut of over 20k dollars a year.... Meaning over 40k a year less going into my bank account

I agree with Bill and ecoterragaia. A wet 14 volt (7 cell) and 16 volt (8 cell) battery requires a minimum of 2.4 volts per cell to fully recharge it, so at 77 degrees F your charging system would have to produce a minimum of 16.8 volts or 19.2 volts, respectively. Your 14 VDC vehicle's electrical system (using a 12 VDC (6 cell) battery) and appliances are designed for a maximum of 16 VDC. There are at least two workarounds if you want to increase the voltage. The simplest solution is using a DC to DC converter. The second alternative is using a dual power system similar to the new 42/14 VDC "Start-Stop" electrical systems. I serious doubt that most audio equipment designed for 14 VDC power systems would be operate in the 18.6 or 21.3 VDC range.

The audio system I would be putting in would be far from most audio equipment... Keep in mind the second power bank would be only to power an amplifier and subwoofers... And when it comes to quality competition grade equipment these amps are good up to 19v some even over 19v
