Hey Ryan, I'm considering A or B, did you notice much difference? I know consensus is 265/70/17 are just fine on stock suspension with no lift, but since you rode on both sizes I am curious of your opinion. My use case is weekends in the mountains, fire roads, and plenty of opportunities to drive in winter conditions. Thanks.

@tbrownoutnabout 265/70/17 can rub pretty good at stock height depending on offset. I have 17x8.5 - 10mm offset and the tires rub even with mudflaps and air dam removed.

Practically none. Handling and acceleration wise they were close to identical. I think I took a 0.5 MPG hit with the larger size. The biggest difference was looks - the larger size was just enough to fill out the rear fender and not make it look like a skateboard.

I did not experience rubbing at stock +30 offset. :cookiemonster:

Why are you running a 10 offset, did you end up cutting?

I've had Toyo Open Country AT3 255/70r17 with 0 offset for just over 40k miles.
I went with this over 265/70 because they are lighter. I saw no lose in mileage, they are quiet on the road, and work great in the snow.

@ssd2k2 I did not even consider going narrow, makes compromising sense.

What do they measure in height mounted? I've been on the fence about size lately and the 255 75 17 duratracs are now on my list.

The wheels I liked were available in that offset and I like the way a "flush" tire looks. If they were available in 0 offset I'd have probably gone that route. I could probably heat the plastic with a heat gun and make a little more room but I plan to do a 2 inch lift in the spring and I don't do any serious off roading so I'll see what happens after the lift.

They’re a true 32 mounted. I think the 255/75/17 Duratracs run big too, because they look as big as lots of other brand’s 255/80/17s. I get minor rubbing on my mudflaps when I’m at full lock and the tire is stuffed (with +4mm TRD 4runner SEMA wheels).

Bilsteins 5100s on the top setting, 4runner Gray TRD Pro Sema wheels, 285/70/17 Toyo AT3s, Sumo Bump stops, TRD exhaust, ECGS Clamshell bushing, 1/4 shim for the lean and one inch rear block, OEM Pro grill and garnish OEM TRD Skid plate, TRD CAI, Demon Brackets, Rigid Industries Pro fog lights, OEM Trail Rails sidebars, Diode Dynamics LED SL1 high and low beam lights, OEM Roof racks, Clazzio leather heated seats, Remote Start, TRD Pro shift knob, tinted windows, Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp for the headunit and sub and amp combo, OEM Puddle lights, OEM tailgate lock, OEM bed mat, LED interior lights, OEM blackout kit for letters, JLT catch can, upgraded 27F toyota True Start battery, Vleds led tail light kit with Pro tail lights, OEM Rave4 side mirrors with convex spotters, just to name a few mods.
Alignment will help as I run 285/70/17s on 4runner SEMA wheels and no rubbing on my mud guards.

I went with option A, went to post the take off Toyo tires in the marketplace here, loaded pictures and went through the process before getting the warning that I need 50 posts before I can post items for sale - seems a little excessive but I'll play by the rules. Must be a lot of folks just using this forum as a distribution channel I guess.
